    ASUS and Intel announce global winner of ‘In Search of the Incredible' Winner's film to be unveiled at Park City with Jason Mraz

    20th January, Park City, Utah –Daniel Hedlund from Layton, Utah is the grand prize winner of “In Search of Incredible,” a global competition sponsored by ASUS and Intel Corporation to find the most inspirational stories from around the world. Hedlund submitted a moving account of his battle with stage four bone cancer. Entries in the thousands came in from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.

    “Feel sorry for cancer cause I just kicked its butt. Or so I think. I’m not really sure” is how Hedlund began his powerful story. He was given a 30 per cent chance of survival and over the past 4 years has endured 20 rounds of chemotherapy and 10 surgical procedures. Hedlund was diagnosed with cancer just 3 weeks after his wedding day and wife Melanie has been his rock at every step of the way.

    The opportunity to meet “In Search of Incredible” ambassador, and Grammy Award-winning artist Jason Mraz prompted Hedlund to submit his entry and he will now realize his dream at one of the biggest international film festivals at Park City, Utah. Not only will Hedlund meet Mraz at the festival and get a chance to see a live performance of tracks from his latest album, but a short film narrating his own “In Search of Incredible” story will be premiered at Park City.

    ASUS and Intel provided funding for the services of a professional film crew including award-winning director Asif Kapadia (“Senna”) to create the film, which will be simultaneously broadcast to a potential audience of millions via Microsoft portal Bing.

    Hedlund’s short film will be the final installment in the “In Search of Incredible” online film series, which to date has captured Mraz’s own quest for the incredible as he has embarked on a number of journeys to uncover incredible sights, sounds and sources of inspiration. Commenting on the Search, Hedlund said, "Taking part in the competition has been an unforgettable experience, not only being able to meet Jason Mraz, but having the chance to collaborate creatively with him. I can't wait for the video to be showcased at Park City, so that I can share my story and give hope to others".
