ASUS Introduces 802.11ac Ecosystem, Including the First Notebook with 5G Wi-Fi
Offering consumers access to a new generation of wireless speed and performance with a complete product range
ASUS products with 802.11ac 5th generation Wi-Fi include the RT-AC66U dual-band router and the ROG G75VW gaming notebook. They feature Broadcom’s 5G Wi-Fi chips, which deliver up to three times faster Ethernet speeds while being six times more power efficient than previous generations of Wi-Fi. ASUS once more puts compatibility first, ensuring full 802.11ac compliance on the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE motherboard.
New networking landscape
The increased reliance on wireless networks, growth in online HD video consumption, and the rapidly rising number of wireless devices being used are all factors stressing legacy 802.11a/b/g/n networks. As a result, consumers often experience compromised performance, leading to choppy video and longer download times. 5G Wi-Fi dramatically improves home wireless range, providing faster video streaming, the ability to connect multiple devices simultaneously, broader coverage, and longer battery life through better energy efficiency. By incorporating 5G Wi-Fi into its new dual-band router and gaming notebook, ASUS is one of the first brands to introduce a product ecosystem that delivers the benefits of 5G Wi-Fi and expedites next generation wireless innovation and adoption.
“ASUS is committed to designing products that feature the most cutting-edge technology available. 5G Wi-Fi is a gateway technology that promises to deliver the best online user experience yet. We recognized the power of this next generation standard early on and committed to being one of the first to offer an ecosystem of products powered by faster, more reliable Wi-Fi. Today, we’re delivering on that promise”, commented ASUS CEO Jerry Shen.
“Watching video on a tablet or laptop wirelessly today can be choppy and slow, especially if the wireless access point is located on the other side of the house or the person is in a ‘dead spot’ that just doesn't get a signal. 5G Wi-Fi increases network speed, range, and reliability throughout the home, and allows for more people to use different devices and simultaneously stream content. By being one of the first to market with various 5G Wi-Fi products, ASUS is enabling consumers to reap the benefits immediately,” said Michael Hurlston, Broadcom Wireless Combo Connectivity SVP and GM.
