This article helps to resolve abnormal sounds from the Notebook/EeePC speakers,

no sound from the speaker, no sound from the external speakers /headphones or HDMI device on ASUS Notebook/EeePC.

 

Problem1: Abnormal sound out from the speaker.

1)     Drivers and BIOS settings can often be the cause of issues when playing back sound. Please try to update the latest BIOS and audio drivers for your ASUS Notebook/EeePC from ASUS download Website.

2)     Restore the Operating System to Factory Settings.

Notebook:

Problem2: Cannot hear the sound from the Notebook/EeePC’s speaker.

1)     Check the volume.

Please check if the system has been set to “Volume Mute” modehspace=0 or turned down too low?  Please set the system to “Volume On” modehspace=0and turn up the volume.

2)     Check if you have connected any external speakers/headphones, HDMI cable, USB audio device?

Please remove these cables and test the Notebook/EeePC’s internal speaker.

3)     Check the Sound Card

Please click the Start buttonhspace=0, key in “Device Manager” and open it.hspace=0

Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers, If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, please try to the audio drivers for your ASUS Notebook/EeePC from ASUS download Website.

4)     Use the Microsoft Troubleshooter.

Microsoft has released an automated tool that can find and automatically fix some problems with the sound problem. Please refer to the following link to run the step2 Troubleshooter.

5)     Restore the Operating System to Factory Settings.

Problem3 : The internal speaker works fine but cannot hear the sound from the external speakers/headphones.

Please check if the speakers/headphones are correctly connected to the notebook/EeePC.  ASUS Notebooks/EeePCs have onehspace=0 or two jackshspace=0(depend on models) that connect to a speakers or headphones. Please connect the speakers/headphones to the headphone out jack. Using this jack automatically disables the built-in speakers.

Problem4 : No sound to HDMI device when using HDMI from Notebook/EeePCs.
If you’re using an HDMI cable to connect your computer to an HDMI-capable monitor with speakers, the sound can come out from the HDMI-capable monitor not from the notebook/EeePC.

 

Here are the steps to set the HDMI Device:

1)     Please connect the Notebook/EeePC with the HDMI Device via HDMI cable.

2)     Please press FN+F8 to switch the display to HDMI device.

3)     Please right-click the Speaker Icon in the Notification area and choose Playback device to open the Sound window.

4)      Please right-click the HDMI Device and choose the option “Set as Default Device”, referring the following picture.
