    ROG SWIFT PG278Q

    Innovation award

“Asus' premise with the Swift PG278Q ROG was to create the best gaming monitor possible. Built with a three-part recipe of G-Sync, high refresh rates (ULMB) and a tasty resolution ideally suited to mid-to-high-end Nvidia GeForce GPUs, it has largely succeeded in its aim. We'd love to see an IPS panel instead of TN, and looking into our crystal ball, a 4K panel with G-Sync really would be the Holy Grail of gaming monitors (Acer has announced one in May), but for now, Asus has the best gaming monitor we've ever seen, though you will have to go down the Nvidia GPU path to realise its potential.”

    Performance

“It's at times like this that we wish we could take OC3D on tour and show you all how this ROG PG278Q Swift really breathes new life into a monster gaming rig. ASUS were wise to apply the ROG logo to this particular model, which has everything you could require from a big single display. It's fantastic and worthy of our OC3D Performance Award.”

    Gold award

t's hard to beat such a great 4K panel, with a stand that actually adjusts, for the price. Last year 4K screens were the preserve of the extremely wealthy, but with the ASUS PB287Q it's now within the grasp of the average enthusiast. Seek one out at the earliest opportunity. Unquestionably Gold Award winning. Can we have another?

“If you're in the market for a big-screen monitor at a sensible price, the Asus PB287Q will take some beating.” “However, as Asus has employed a 10-bit TN panel, the PB287Q is capable of reproducing far more delicate transitions between colours than its budget namesakes. As a result, several members of the PC Pro team mistook the PB287Q for an IPS monitor.”

“If you need a 4K gaming monitor then we recommend the Asus PB287Q. It delivers exactly what you need at a reasonable price, and has a flicker-free backlight.” “Using our Leo Bodnar Lag Tester, we measured an average input lag of just 10.6ms. Anything less than 20ms is a very good result, so the Asus PB287Q is an excellent monitor for gaming. The fact it's 4K and supports 60Hz over DisplayPort only reinforces this strength. This is a great monitor for gaming.” more

    MX279H

    4 out 5 stars

ASUS' MX279H isn't one of the best 27 inch IPS displays we've ever come across. But in this case it wasn't the manufacturers intention. This display is much more about price/performance rather than just price. It's great that there is an AH-IPS panel but still we think that 1080p is not enough for a 27 inch panel. 1440p is the perfect resolution for such a display and everything that is below is a serious compromise. A display which features excellent design and comes with a “Bang & Olufsen” badge, should be more about performance than just price. more
