At the end of the day though, it really depends what functionality you value most. There are ultrabooks out there for a similar price as the Chi T300 that offer better battery life and possibility even greater performance. However, these machines may not offer you the flexibility and usage modes that the Chi T300 offers, and that's where this machine really shines. more

    Editors choice

Thanks to the fact that ASUS' X99-DELUXE brings so much to the table, it's not that hard of a board to sum-up. As I mentioned in the intro, I almost feel like this board should be called X99-ULTIMATE, because it offers a lot of what you'd expect, and then piles on a couple of extras you didn't. more

Quality wise it's great and there's nothing bad about it, but at this price point the missing detachable USB cable, USB hub and RGB lighting hurts.  If i'm paying this much, I'd rather pay a little more and have the extra features.  For these reasons despite being a good product it's not overwhelmingly compelling for everyone and therefore gets a silver award. more

Attention to detail is evident with this keyboard as well, as backlighting is well implemented and software worked very well. There are plenty of macro functions (21 keys total when you count the assignable F-keys) for a truly custom experience. Bottom line, I would have no hesitation recommending this keyboard to anyone as a solid gaming and productivity choice - as long as they like the Cherry MX Brown experience. However, while tastes may differ widely I do think MX Brown switches offer an excellent balance between performance and feel. more

Honestly they are both great mice and I've been a long term Deathadder user and fan.  I've bought two over the years and would give the Deathadder a gold award.  Having said all of this and compared the two I would still give the edge to the Gladius to win this “mouse-off” based on it's extra functionality such as the detachable cable, the socketed omron switches and the on board firmware to save the mouse's configuration.  This really as close to perfection as you can currently get in a mouse. more

    Recommended

If you're looking for an ultrabook that's very capable of performing everyday tasks such as browsing the web, editing documents, and listening to music, this system is worth considering. It's capable of much more than some of these general computing tasks as well, but the Core M isn't quite as powerful as the Core i family. Even still, the balance of performance, form factor and battery life is about as close to the sweet spot as you can get, currently. more

    STRIX-GTX980-DC2-4GD5

    Editors choice

So if you are on the market for a GTX 980 is the Strix the card to go for? Well for starters currently this is actually one of the cheapest cards you can get so that is a major plus. For me it is the cooling performance and the 0dB design that really sets the Strix apart though. I personally don't want my computer to sound like a wind tunnel, especially when I'm not in game. more

. At $474, the board is not for the faint of heart. You know going in that you will face a price premium for a top of the line board so sticker shock is not going to be something the target user is going to be worried about. After spending between $500 and a $1000 for a CPU, the price point is going to be there. Overall, the experience of working with the board was as I expected. You get all of the tools you need to get your hardware to perform at its highest level without compromises. more

    STRIX-GTX960-DC2-2GD5

    Approved

We weren't able to get the MSRP for the STRIX GTX 960 at the time of publishing, but we should have that information shortly. However, given pricing we were made privy to from various sources, we'd expect this card to land anywhere from $210 to $220. If that holds true, it will be perfectly positioned between the AMD R9 280 and R9 280X. Putting two of these together for a SLI setup becomes an attractive option at that price range. You'll be well under the price of a single GTX 780 Ti or GTX 980 (around $100 in most cases), but right on par performance wise where single monitor gaming is concerned. Even if the price ends up being a little higher than what we project, it's still going to be a heck of a value. Price, performance, and a great cooler in the DirectCU II all add up to an easy upgrade path or even a good option for your next system build. more

At the beginning of this review I asked the question – “Could this be the perfect balance between price, performance, and features?” It might not be that in everyone's eyes, but for the vast majority of people it might just be. If you're looking for a X99 motherboard that won't break the bank, but still offers the enthusiast features you want… The X99 Pro definitely needs to be on your short list. more

    RAMPAGE V EXTREME

    Gold Award

The ASUS Rampage V Extreme is a testament to the ASUS ROG line with design aesthetics and performance that mesh in an almost perfect synthesis. The board features a black and red color scheme, common to the ROG product line, with all integrated components and ports colored to mesh into the design aesthetics. ASUS also included an aluminum overlay over the rear panel and upper VRM heat sink, giving the board a more uniform look. The E-ATX form factor allowed ASUS to integrate an enormous amount of extra features into the board, making it one of the most feature-rich offerings among the Intel X99 boards from all manufacturers. Its performance is nothing to balk at with it easily meeting our expectations. This board should give you no issues no matter what you throw at it. more
