    Z97I-PLUS

    Editor's Choice

Simply put, ASUS' Z97I-PLUS is small, but it's mighty. Proof of that might come with the fact that I just wrote some 4,000 words to talk about it. If I had an ITX build in my future, I'd be packing this one in without hesitation. For gaming, such as for a LAN box, I'd probably consider targeted options, such as ASUS' own upcoming Maximus VII Impact. But that's mostly only because of its showoff-worthy design, and other gamer-specific features. For all other uses, the Z97I-PLUS is simply stellar. more

    Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac)

    Silver Award

Even at $200 the system punches above its weight, and the lack of issues across my testing with almost a dozen CPUs for other reviews can only ever be a positive. Users investing into the Z97 ecosystem should consider the Z97-Pro or the Z97-Pro WiFi AC as worthwhile motherboards in their builds. more

    MAXIMUS VII GENE

    Gold Award

SUS has an incredible motherboard in the Maximus VII Gene. It has an uncommonly rich feature set for a microATX motherboard. In fact, it has a very deep feature-set for a motherboard, period. The UEFI BIOS is second to none, its 5-Way Optimization feature is class leading, the sound solution is one of the best, and this is all done while being "window worthy" in your next build. Early on it gave us some odd issues, but these have been seemingly addressed in BIOS updates since its release. On the overclocking front, the Maximus VII Gene is as good, if not better, than some of its bigger footprinted brothers. For a Republic of Gamers branded motherboard we are seeing it come in at a rather diminutive price of $209.99 with Prime Shipping. more

    P9A-I/C2550/SAS/4L

    9.6/10

Overall, this platform is going to be a strong contender for storage platforms especially with their low CPU requirements. It is certainly an interesting value proposition for those in the market for this class of embedded option and therefore receives very high marks. more
