ESC8000 G4, RS720Q-E9-RS8-S, Z11PA-U12 and WS X299 SAGE provide new levels of performance and security for enterprises, businesses and prosumers

TAIPEI, Taiwan, November 20, 2017 —ASUS presented its latest lineup of high-performance computing (HPC) servers and workstations — including the ESC8000 G4 accelerator server, RS720Q-E9-RS8-S high-density computing rack server, Z11PA-U12 server motherboard, and the WS X299 SAGE high-performance workstation motherboard — at SC17, the premier international conference on high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis held in Denver, Colorado from November 12–17.

The latest lineup of ASUS servers and workstations supporting cutting-edge virtualization, analytics and artificial intelligence technologies were on display at the exhibition, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the latest technologies that will shape the future of large-scale technical computing and data-driven science, view live product demos, and meet ASUS executives and experts to discuss tailored solutions for their growing businesses or enterprises.

ESC8000 G4 accelerator server

ESC8000 G4 supports a single root complex (1 CPU to 8 GPUs) to avoid UPI speed limitations. An ASUS-exclusive PCIe Routing Switching design (Taiwan patent no. M547705) allows AI developers to switch PCIe Traffic Routing remotely via the web-based GUI of the ASUS ASMB9-iKVM remote server management solution and find the best topology to make their AI application run at top performance. ESC8000 G4 has a smart thermal design with hot-swappable and redundant system fans. If fans are removed or go bad, the other fan modules can start running at a higher speed to compensate for the missing or failed fans. Additionally, a dedicated air tunnel for individual components — including the CPU and GPU — improves the heat dissipation and ensures uninterrupted system performance. ASUS Thermal Radar provides more ambient thermal sensors for improved internal and external temperature monitoring. It also enables dynamic fan curve adjustment, reducing fan power consumption by up to 20% for lower datacenter operating costs.

RS720Q-E9-RS8-S high-density computing rack server

RS720Q-E9-RS8-S is a computing rack server featuring four nodes, 8 CPUs for up to 112 computing cores, and 48 DIMM slots for up to 1.5TB of memory. This exceptional high-density computing power makes the system the premium choice for situations that demand the highest IO throughput and number-crunching power. RS720Q-E9-RS8-S provides flexible, hot-swappable storage with support for eight NVMe, SAS or SATA hard drives. Its port-to-port design delivers faster data transition speeds than PCIe switch IC solutions and is more cost-effective. RS720Q-E9-RS8-S supports Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and optional integrated fabric on one of the CPUs with Intel Omni-Path Architecture (OPA). With low-latency, 100Gbps data transmission speeds, Intel OPA deliver performance for HPC workloads and the ability to scale from entry-level to large clusters with tens of thousands of nodes. RS720Q-E9-RS8-S also features ASUS Control Center (ACC) software and an embedded ASMB9-iKVM module to provide comprehensive and in-band and out-of-band management features to small and mid-size businesses for remote monitoring, diagnostics, software updates and dispatching.

Z11PA-U12 server motherboard

Z11PA-U12 is a server motherboard with a compact, ATX form factor and 12 DIMM slots for unmatched memory expandability. Together with support for dual double-deck GPUs, Z11PA-U12 makes an ideal platform for deep learning application development and education. Z11PA-U12 features dual onboard OCuLink to provide efficient port-to-port connection with most OCuLink-supported NVMe devices, eliminating the need for PCIe transaction cards. It comes with three mini-SAS HD connectors that support up to twelve SATA ports each for high-speed 6Gbps connectivity with external devices and cleaner cable routing. Additionally, a 7-pin SATA port provides flexibility to connect an optical drive or extra SATA device.

WS X299 SAGE high-performance workstation motherboard

WS X299 SAGE is a high-performance workstation motherboard providing maximum GPU density with seven full-sized PCI-E 3.0 slots, room for up to four double-width graphics cards and support for 4-way NVIDIA® SLI™ or AMD® CrossFireX™ GPU configurations. It is the best board for training neural networks and crunching other scalable compute loads. Designed for the powerful Intel® Core™ X-series processors with up to 18 cores, WS X299 SAGE features a capable thermal design to ensure maximum performance with no CPU throttling. Consisting of an ultra-efficient VRM heatsink with a metal fin array design that maximizes surface area for heat dissipation, plus an additional heatsink and a connecting heat pipe to further increase cooling performance, this innovative thermal design ensures WS X299 SAGE is always ready to handle any task, no matter how demanding.
