ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha, ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro S ready for latest 64-core processing behemoth

TAIPEI, Taiwan, February 7, 2020 — ASUS today announced ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha, ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and Prime TRX40-Pro S, three all-new motherboard models specially engineered to unleash the savage computing power of the latest AMD® Ryzen® Threadripper™ 64-core, 128-thread 3990X processor.
While the existing ROG Zenith II Extreme, ROG Strix TRX40-E Gaming and ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro motherboards excel at handling 24-core and 32-core Threadripper processors, the new ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha, ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro S motherboards are designed to maximize the extreme performance of the latest 64-core AMD 3990X processor with higher-current power stages that deliver improved efficiency and more headroom for overclocking.

ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha: Flagship motherboard, engineered to break every boundary

ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha is freshly equipped with 16 Infineon TDA21490 power stages, each rated for 90 amps, enabling supreme efficiency and enhanced headroom for overclocking — and empowering users to push performance as never before. It also shifts to high-current Dr.MOS stages to fuel memory performance. This enhancement means Zenith II Extreme Alpha is validated for the 64-core 3990X paired with a G.Skill Trident Z Neo 256GB (8x32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL 16 memory kit. With our exclusive OptiMem III technology, Zenith II Extreme Alpha is currently the only high-end consumer desktop (HEDT) motherboard able to run at CL 16 with 3600 MHz with all DIMM slots populated for a total of 256 GB. Zenith II Extreme Alpha has already proved itself as a world-beater, creating new global highs in four hardcore benchmarks. The world records, achieved by elite overclocker ‘SafeDisk’, are listed in the table below:

ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and Prime TRX40- Pro S: Leveled up for 64-core CPUs

Scheduled to arrive a little later in Q1 2020, the new ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro S motherboards are also upgraded. ROG Strix40-XE Gaming features TDA 21472 stages for the CPU VRM, and both ROG Strix40-XE Gaming and ASUS Prime TRX40-Pro S come with high-current Dr.MOS stages for memory. These refreshed components enable the motherboards to provide ample headroom to deal with AMD’s 64-core CPUs, as well as the latest high-density memory kits.

The complete ASUS TRX40 lineup is now ready for 3990X and more

ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha, ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and Prime TRX40-Pro S are the latest additions to the ASUS TRX40 lineup, each upgraded to extract the maximum performance from the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X processor. Of course, they’re also compatible with 3990X sibling models, 3960X and 3970X.
