ROG-exclusive liquid-cooling dock
The Hydro Overclocking System is the world’s only liquid-cooling system designed for a gaming notebook. ROG GX800 uses an upgraded version of its predecessor’s cooling dock, and has a dual Hybrid Chamber Cooling design. Together, they give ROG GX800 double the cooling power of normal GTX 1080 laptops.
The dual Hybrid Chamber Cooling design draws heat away from both graphics cards and the CPU. The coolant is pumped from the dock and into the cooling chamber, where it absorbs heat by conduction. The cooling pipe diverges to make sure that coolant passes around the two graphics cards and CPU. These unique designs help release 520W of heat so that internal temperatures stay at an optimum temperature for peak system performance.
The redesigned Quick Connector increases coolant flow rate between the Hydro Overclocking System and ROG GX800 by up to 70%. Also new are ROG GX800’s dual exhausts, which employ four fans to drive air out at a rate of 28 cubic feet per minute (CFM) — 69% more airflow than the twin fan ROG GX700 for 160% more cooling efficiency.
Inside, the ROG-exclusive motor and pump used in the Hydro Overclocking System features advanced designs that minimize vibrations. The special coolant used in the Hydro Overclocking system has been specially formulated to prevent corrosion and can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to 100°C.
