Accelerating Convergence in Art, Education & Industry
Overview
At La Salle Campus Barcelona – Universitat Ramon Llull, creativity and technology thrive together. The university offers respected degrees in Animation, VFX, and Digital Arts, combining artistic education with technical excellence.
“We bring together business managers, engineers, and artists,” says Gabriel Fernandez, Academic Director of Animation and Digital Arts. “That mix of disciplines is one of our strengths.”
From first sketches to final renders, La Salle students work in professional studio conditions powered by ASUS ProArt technology, gaining the experience and confidence needed to enter one of the most competitive fields in the world.
THE CHALLENGES
As creative workflows evolve, La Salle faces a clear challenge: to ensure that its students can work with the same tools and at the same standards as in top studios.
From 3D modeling and rendering to immersive installations and AI-assisted design, La Salle required a unified technology ecosystem to mirror that found in high-end industry. It has to be powerful, color-accurate, and stable, whilst capable of handling demanding real-time and post-production workflows.
“Our students need to work with the same hardware they’ll find in production companies,” explains Felix Balbas, Director of the Undergraduate Degree in Animation & VFX. “For us, animation and VFX are like Formula One for the car industry. We push the boundaries of creativity and technology.”
THE SOLUTION
To address these challenges and ensure students had access to industry-leading tools, the key was to integrate ASUS ProArt solutions, enabling a comprehensive enhancement of its digital arts technology ecosystem.
Finishing and Color Grading with ProArt Display OLED PA32UCDM
In La Salle’s color suite, the ProArt Display OLED PA32UCDM provides professional reference accuracy for HDR and color-critical work
The 4K HDR QD-OLED display offers 1000 nits of peak brightness, 240hz refresh rates and true 10-bit color bringing professional industry standard features for editing, color correction and VFX tools like DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Nuke, Houdini and Unreal Engine.
“Color consistency across ASUS monitors is absolutely essential. The depth of the color information in a QD-OLED panel really makes a difference, especially for lighting and compositing,” says Balbas.
Immersive Room with PCCom Creator PC and ProArt Display PA248CRV
At the heart of the Digital Arts department lies the Immersive Room, a 360-degree projection space driven by the PCCom Creator PC. Equipped with ProArt components, this workstation delivers the power and stability needed for large-scale visuals and interactive projects.
“It’s really powerful, really quiet, and it doesn’t get hot. That’s important when you’re pushing AI workflows. It gives us incredible stability and performance with much faster real-time rendering,” says Balbas.
Inside the control room, La Salle relies on the ProArt Display PA248CRV. Its exceptional color accuracy ensures technicians can preview and control immersive visuals precisely as the audience will see them, making it a perfect companion to the Creator PC.
AI-Driven Creation with ASUS MuseTree
AI is now embedded in La Salle’s Digital Arts curriculum. Using MuseTree, an ASUS AI-powered tool, students explore new ways to visualize, model, and generate ideas.
“MuseTree has a very flexible interface. With that tool, the students will be able to create new things that they even ever thought and we’re happy with that,” says Fernandez.
Creative Flexibility with Portable ProArt PA169CDV Pen Display
The display allows students to sketch, paint, and edit on the go, extending professional workflows beyond the classroom. The bundled ProArt Pen utilizes Wacom EMR technology, providing battery-free, lightweight precision with 4096 pressure levels and tilt detection for intuitive, natural creative expression.
“It’s really important to have color accuracy and brightness to achieve the very best results wherever they are,” says Andrea Naharro Nieto, Teacher of the Undergraduate Degree in Digital Arts
THE OUTCOME
By integrating ASUS ProArt solutions throughout its facilities, La Salle has built a future-ready creative ecosystem that mirrors real world and industry-leading studio environments.
“Using the same high-end technology, like ASUS, means our students are already prepared for the highest level of business. ASUS is absolutely essential to that mission,” concludes Balbas.
