[Mobile Router] SIM PIN Lock FAQ for 4G/5G Mobile Routers
What is SIM PIN Security?
SIM PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a feature that prevents unauthorized access to your SIM card. When enabled, the user must input the correct 4-digit PIN before accessing the mobile broadband network.
Applicable model for this article: ASUS 5G-GO
After inserting a SIM card and powering on the device, if the SIM PIN security feature is enabled, the device will prompt the user to unlock the SIM card through:
- LCD Screen Prompt: A direct input prompt appears on the device screen.
- WebGUI Prompt: When logging into the web interface (http://192.168.10.1), a SIM PIN entry popup page will appear.
Note: Until the correct PIN is entered, the SIM card remains locked. The prompt will reappear every time the user logs into the WebGUI until the SIM is successfully unlocked.
The PIN and PUK codes are often printed on the frame of the SIM card provided by your mobile carrier. Check the SIM card frame first before contacting your mobile provider. Always store your SIM PIN and PUK code safely. Avoid experimenting with PIN/PUK guesses to prevent permanent lockout. If SIM is permanently blocked, you must obtain a new SIM card.
If not changed, try one of the following:
- 0000
- 1234
- 1111
- Last 4 digits of your phone number
If none work, contact your mobile carrier.
- Connect to your device’s WiFi or via Ethernet.
- Launch a browser and go to: http://192.168.10.1
- Login with the default password: password (unless changed).
- Navigate to Cellular Network > SIM PIN Security
- Select Enable or Disable.
- Enter your current PIN and click Submit.
- The status will update to enabled or disabled.
- Click Change SIM PIN.
- Enter the current PIN, then enter and confirm the new PIN.
| Status | Description (English) |
| PIN Unlocked | PIN was entered correctly; SIM is active |
| PIN Locked | SIM is locked; a valid 4-digit PIN is required |
| PIN Lock Disabled | SIM PIN security is disabled |

| SIM Permanently Blocked | PUK entered incorrectly 10 times; SIM card is unusable |

PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) is required when the PIN is entered incorrectly three times. You must contact your mobile provider to retrieve it.

Tips
- When PUK is accepted, the system will set a new SIM PIN [1234] accordingly. Please remember it and enter it once the system boots up.
- Always store your SIM PIN and PUK code safely.
