Chong Fei Giap is a Seremban-born artist with over 10 years of experience in the creative industry. His signature artworks blend anime characteristics with local elements in a dream-like fantasy. In 2015, he co-founded the creative brand “Loka Made” which markets collectible items that promote local culture and designs.

Commercial Photographer in Architecture & Interior

Born and bred in KL, Patrick picked up the camera to document his travel stories more than 12 years ago, and has since turned his passion in photography into his fulltime career, with work done in the realms of wedding photography, creative portraits, as well as architectural and interior photography. Aside from his commercial work, he continues to be an avid urban explorer and are constantly driven by the need to document down the colorful stories unfolding around him.

JUDGING CRITERIA

REFERENCE INFO:

Adherence to theme: How closely the content sticks to the theme “Unleash Your Imagination”.

Originality: The uniqueness of the concept.

Creativity: The use of imagination to execute the concept.

Clarity: How well the theme or message is conveyed.

Aesthetics: The color and composition of the content.

Technical Competence: Proficiency in the technical skills of the chosen category, e.g., the sound quality and editing of content in the filmmaking category.

CONTEST TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This contest – ASUS Creator Award 2021 (“Contest”) is hosted by ASUSTek Computer Inc. (“ASUS”).

Detailed information for how to participate and win prizes in connection with this specific Contest, ASUS Terms of Use Notice, and ASUS Privacy Policy, constitutes part of this Contest Terms and Conditions ("Terms and Conditions"). Participation in this Contest is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. ASUS may at any time revise the Terms and Conditions and other rules set forth by ASUS. Eligible Entrant (as defined below) shall be bound by any such revisions.
The Contest commences on 25th June 2021, 00:00, and terminates on 15th August 2021, 23:59 ("Contest Period"), and hosts within Malaysia (“Contest Territory”).
Employees of ASUS and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising representatives, and agencies, who are involved in the Contest, and the immediate families of any of the foregoing persons, are NOT ELIGIBLE for this Campaign
The Contest is free to enter.
The Contest is open to any individual, 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, whose creative entry has never won any prizes in any local or international creative festival or creative award and he/she is a citizen or a permanent resident of Malaysia.
Creatives submitted to other creative festivals and creative contests, be it local or international will not be eligible for submission in the contest.
Multiple, different entries per Participant is permitted in each category. Participants can submit entries in more than one category too.
Entries (Social Media Post + Submission Form + Join Facebook Group + Facebook Group Post) are to be received by ASUS Malaysia through the microsite on or before 11:59PM on 15 August 2021. Entries which are not submitted during the Contest Period shall be disqualified.
Participants who have not joined the ASUS Malaysian Creative Community FB Group will be disqualified.
All components of the Entry must be the original creation of the Participant adhering to Theme of the Year.
Each Entry must be submitted on an individual basis only (i.e., no joint or corporate entries).
ASUS Malaysia and its agents are not responsible or liable for (i) lost, stolen, late, incomplete, invalid, mutilated, illegible or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified; or (ii) for technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, electronic malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software; or (iii) for any error, human, technical or otherwise.
ASUS Malaysia reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any Participant it finds tampering with the operation or entry process of the Competition, or acting in violation of these Rules or applicable law.
ASUS Malaysia shall not be liable for or pay any customs fees, duties, taxes or tariffs incurred by Participant's submission.
Submissions received past the submission deadline of the Competition Period shall not be accepted for review and shall be destroyed.
Participants’ Entries will not be returned.
Employees of ASUS Malaysia and any of its affiliated companies within the meaning of Section 6 of the Companies Act 1965 and their respective subsidiaries and agents, and the immediate family (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse) of each such employees, together with those with whom such employees are domiciled, are not eligible to participate in the contest.
By participating in the contest, Participant(s) warrant that they are eligible to participate under the applicable law governing procurement of prizes and awards.
ASUS Malaysia reserves the right to disqualify any Participant if ASUS Malaysia is of the opinion that the Participant did not comply with these Rules, or if the Participant's participation in the contest or receipt of prize would violate any applicable law.
Participants may be required to submit proof of their eligibility.
Each Participant in the contest shall fully and unconditionally agree to comply with and abide by these Rules and the decisions of ASUS Malaysia and its designated judges, whose decisions shall be final and binding in all respects.
Entries shall not contain any profanity, nudity, pornographic images or explicit sexual themes, graphic violence, defamatory or libellous statements or material considered illegal. Entries containing any such aspects and/or that are in violation of any applicable law or otherwise deemed by ASUS Malaysia, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate will be disqualified. Entries which infringe on any intellectual property rights or other rights will also be disqualified at the sole discretion of ASUS Malaysia.
ASUS Malaysia or its agents will attempt to notify the Winner(s) by email or on mobile phone, using the contact details provided on the Entry Form. If for any reason the selected Winner or Winners cannot be reached after a reasonable attempt has been made, the judges will select other Winner(s) from the Shortlisted Entries and award the Award Sum to these Winner(s).
The number of Winner(s) and sum awarded to each Winner(s) shall be decided by ASUS’ panel of judges, at their sole and absolute discretion.
The Entry shall not include confidential information, trade secrets, trademarks or copyrighted material belonging to any person or entity other than the Participant save and except where the Participant has acquired a suitable licence, clearance or permission agreement (proof of which is required upon submission).
Participants are responsible for securing necessary permissions, talent and location releases and licences for visual and audio material contained in the submissions. Participants shall only use original music created for their Entry or music that is in the public domain. No other music may be used.
ASUS Malaysia and its agents shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, damages, claims costs or expenses incurred in or arising from the production or delivery of the film entries.
Any entry that does not comply with the above requirements or any other terms herein shall be disqualified.
Acceptance of Prize constitutes permission to ASUS Malaysia and its third party service providers or agencies to use the winners’ names and/or photographs and/or artwork for purposes of publicity, advertising and/or trade without further compensation or notice to the extent permitted by law.
ASUS Malaysia reserves the right to the Participant’s submission and participation in this Contest without any liability in the event that the Organiser has reasonable suspicion that a selected Participant has violated any of these Terms and Conditions herein.
To the extent permitted by law, ASUS Malaysia reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, including the Campaign Period and Prize without prior notice. In case of any dispute, ASUS Malaysia reserves the right to make the final decision.
By participating in this Contest, Participants are taken to have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and decisions of the Organiser.
By entering, participants agree to grant ASUS Malaysia and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, licensees, directors, officers, agents, independent contractors and advertising/promotion agencies the use of his/her name, details and photos submitted through this Campaign, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
In the event of inconsistencies between any communication or marketing materials with regard to this Contest and the Terms and Conditions stated herein, this Terms and Conditions herein shall prevail only to the extent to reconcile the inconsistencies.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH CATEGORY:

A. PHOTOGRAPHY

1. All entries must follow the Contest theme. You will need to fill in your entry brief in the Google Form & Facebook Group post as caption.
2. The entry brief should be kept at approximately 350 words. Please utilize this section to elaborate on your artwork as well as providing the judges with a better understanding of your subject.
3. Each participant can only submit 1 image per submission. Image series are not counted.
4. All photos can be taken with mobile phones or cameras, as long as the final submission on your social media profile and Facebook Creative Community Group is uploaded in the highest quality.
5. Your original digital camera RAW files may be required if your image is shortlisted.
6. Black and white, grayscale images are NOT allowed.
7. You must not have breached any laws when taking your photographs.
8. No borders, no signatures and watermarks
9. The following digital amendments are allowed:
- - removal of sensor dust spots and chromatic aberration
- - levels (in moderation)
- - curves (in moderation)
- - colour (in moderation)
- - saturation (in moderation)
- - contrast work (in moderation)
- - shadow and highlights (in moderation)
- - sharpening (including selective sharpening) in moderation
- - cropping (in moderation)
- - dodging, burning and toning (in moderation)
- - neutral density gradients (in moderation)
- - removing lens vignetting
- - panoramas i.e. panoramas created from several images that have been taken from the same location and at the same time, and then combined or stitched using digital techniques, and resulting in a wider view than can be achieved with most wide-angle lenses. (Stitched panoramas must be declared in caption information.)
10. The following digital amendments are NOT allowed:
- - adding or removing other graphic elements out of the photoshoot location
- - composites and sandwich shots that add elements.
- - images that have been digitally manipulated outside of the allowed adjustments.

B. ILLUSTRATION/ARTS

1. All entries must follow the Contest theme. You will need to fill in your entry brief in the Google Form & Facebook Group post as caption.
2. The entry brief should be kept at approximately 350 words. Please utilize this section to elaborate on your artwork as well as providing the judges with a better understanding of your subject.
3. Each participant can only submit 1 art per submission.
4. All final designs should be uploaded in the highest quality on your social media profile and Facebook Creative Community Group is uploaded in the highest quality.
5. Your original work files may be required if your submission is shortlisted.
6. There is no limitation regarding the software used to create the artworks.
7. Traditional art, photographs, photo manipulations, collages and animation are not accepted.
8. All artworks should be original.

C. FILMMAKING

1. All entries must follow the Contest theme. You will need to fill in your entry brief in the Google Form & Facebook Group post as caption.
2. The entry brief should be kept at approximately 350 words. Please utilize this section to elaborate on your artwork as well as providing the judges with a better understanding of your subject.
3. Each participant can only submit 1 video per submission. You can submit multiple submissions if you have more than 1 video to share, but video series with storyline continuation are not counted.
4. All final submissions should be submitted on your social media profile and Facebook Creative Community Group in the highest quality.
5. Your original RAW files in mp4 may be required if your video is shortlisted.
6. You must not have breached any laws when shooting your videos.
7. No borders, no signatures and watermarks
8. You shall submit an original short film of their own creation that is no shorter than one (1) minute and no longer than five (5) minutes in running time. The time stated is not inclusive of any credits.
9. The dialogue may be in any vernacular languages spoken in Malaysia but if so, the short film must be subtitled in English.
10. Any music, effects used in the video should be copyright free.
11. Animated and stop motion films are allowed.

D. GRAPHIC DESIGN

1. All entries must follow the Contest theme. You will need to fill in your entry brief in the Google Form & Facebook Group post as caption.
2. The entry brief should be kept at approximately 350 words. Please utilize this section to elaborate on your artwork as well as providing the judges with a better understanding of your subject.
3. Each participant can only submit 1 design output per submission. Design series are not counted.
4. All final designs should be uploaded in the highest quality on your social media profile and Facebook Creative Community Group is uploaded in the highest quality.
5. Your original work files may be required if your submission is shortlisted.
6. Photographed images with touch-up editings are not considered as a graphic design.
7. Your final output should be in 4:5 ratio or square size only.
8. All visual elements used should be copyright free.
