ASUS Announces Servers with 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory and Exclusive Thermal Radar 2.0 Technology

2019/04/03

Taipei, Taiwan, April 3, 2019, —ASUS, the leading IT Company in server systems, server motherboards, workstations and workstation motherboards today announced support for the new 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors across all server product lineups. The latest Intel platform delivers a 1.33X average performance improvement in power consumption and clock speed over previous-generation processors with popular applications and benchmarks. As a select Intel partner, ASUS offers breakthrough performance with the latest Intel Optane™ DC persistent memory with an over 88% gain in input/output operations per second (IOPS) compared with the same configuration in SSD. This new processor platform also introduces Intel Deep Learning Boost technology for enhanced deep learning capabilities. With this new technology, ASUS servers achieved a 3.1X performance improvement in the ResNet-50 and SSD VGG-16 models, fully demonstrating the inference capability of the new platform.

Support up to 6 channel DDR4 2933, Intel DL Boost and Intel Optane™ DC persistent memory

All ASUS server series are optimized to fully leverage 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and future technologies including Intel Optane DC persistent memory and Intel Deep Learning Boost technology to enable more efficient AI (artificial intelligence) acceleration, including the GPU-optimized ESC 8000 and 4000 series, high-performance RS720, 700, 540, 520, and 500 series, Z11 series server motherboard and WS C621 workstation motherboard. With the latest 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Platinum processor, ASUS servers deliver a 1.21X performance improvement in Linpack, a 1.83X performance improvement in Stream Triad, and an incredible 17X improvement in AI and deep learning inference over previous-generation processors.

To address rapidly emerging data-intensive applications, including in-memory analytics, databases, content delivery networks (CDN), and high-performance computing (HPC), ASUS servers adopt the latest Intel Optane™ DC persistent memory technology to transform critical data workloads faster and deliver much improved serviceability with higher virtual machine and container density. Intel Optane™ DC persistent memory is an innovative memory technology that delivers a unique combination of affordable large capacity and persistence (non-volatility). Compared with the previous generation, the latest ASUS servers offer a 1.8X IOPS improvement under virtualization workloads while maintaining the same operating costs. Better IOPS means more efficiency and improved quality when running virtualization in business environments.

Exclusive Thermal Radar technology

ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 is the market-leading thermal control technology and is deployed perfectly on the latest ASUS servers featuring 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Featuring two innovative intelligent detection technologies and multi-fan zone design, ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 places different sensors on the CPU, GPU, DIMM, HDD and in other areas to collect localized heating information to designate dedicated fan flow automatically to reduce consumption of overall fan capacity. Additionally, the multi-fan zone design enables multiple fan curves for different zones to reduce operating time and cost required for manual adjustments and effectively enhances system reliability and thermal efficiency.
