ASUS Philippines helps to beat the technology gap of Lamo Elementary School with ASUS donated laptops

Introduction

With ASUS’ continuous commitment in providing technological solutions in education, ASUS Philippines and its partner ASUS Foundation have reached a humble school in Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Vizacaya - Lamo Elementary School. With an overall population of almost 200 young students from kinder to grade 6, the school gets support from its alumni and other partners who are quite active in pushing the school’s development. Recently, ASUS Philippines have donated thirty (30) pcs of pre-owned ASUS laptops that are installed in the school’s computer laboratory.

Problem: 1 system unit to 5 students

Lamo Elementary School has overcome various challenges through the years but technological advancement is still their main problem that needs to be resolved. Having limitations with their facility, the school is currently left behind with the use of technology that greatly affects the teaching and learning process of the faculty and students.

At present, students are struggling with the 1:5 ratio – 1 computer to 1 student - making it hard for these young learners to individually have their hands-on experience with the use of computer.

ASUS empowers the young learners of Lamo Elementary School

Lamo Elementary School aims to adopt the 21st century way of learning which is by providing technological tools - such as computers and laptops - for their students to be globally-competitve in the near future. This is why, Atty. Shiela Mepa, Lamo Elementary School Alumni Association President, reached out to ASUS Philippines and ASUS Foundation to seek support in acquiring laptops that will be used by the students and faculty members of Lamo Elementary School. With that, ASUS Philippines donated thirty (30) units of pre-owned ASUS laptops wherein the students and faculty eagerly received last February 2020.

In an interview with Ms. Dalita Galanta, Head Teacher III of Lamo Elementary School, she shares, “While these students are eager to learn, there are certain limitations that hindered them to comprehend the advancement of technology. Financially speaking, it has always been a challenge for the students to have their own computers. But now, these students will be able to both experience and maximize the use of technology with these ASUS donated laptops. We are more confident that Lamo Elementary School will be able to produce globally-competitive students!”

“With ASUS Philippines donated laptops it is a way for the people and community in Lamo Elementary School to catch up with the technology gap and computer literacy between the province and Manila.”, Atty. Carlo Aquino, Deputy Representative in Manila Economic and Cultural Office closes.
