AIoT solutions

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 6, 2020) - ASUS today showcased the latest AIoT solutions for AI edge-computing applications at CES 2020, including the new Mini PC PN61T with built-in Google Edge TPU and Tinker Edge series of single board computers with an onboard neutral network accelerator processor (NPU). This latest line-up of AIoT-ready products are designed for real-life AI edge-computing applications, from AI-enabled consumer robotics and smart vending machines to AI-enabled video conferencing and camera set-ups.

Ultra-compact and Mini PC for AIoT

The ASUS Mini PC PN61T is engineered with AIoT in mind, with tested 24/7 reliability in a wide range of conditions, an up to Intel® Core i7 processor and built-in Google Edge TPU, a machine learning (ML) accelerator that speeds up processing efficiency, lowers power demands and makes it easier to build connected devices and intelligent applications. A dual-array of front microphones offers audio input support, while a consumer infrared sensor enables remote control application with the PN61T. The Mini PC PN61T is perfect for a variety of AI edge-computing use cases without worrying about excessive noise, thanks to a quiet cooling fan.

The Mini PC PN61T provides comprehensive and high-speed connectivity with multiple ports, including front-mounted, easy-access USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C ports, Micro SD card reader, additional USB ports including a USB Type-C input for quick charging and an HDMI input in the back, and a configurable port option (including COM, VGA, DisplayPort, Intel LAN and Thunderbolt 3) for legacy devices, additional displays or multiple network connections. With a convenient sliding chassis design, dual-storage capabilities, and a compact and stackable form factor, the PN61T is designed for modularity and flexibility.

Tinker Edge series designed for AI computing

The Tinker Edge series is comprised of the AI-ready Tinker Edge T and Tinker Edge R devices, which are powerful Single Board Computer (SBC) in a small form factor that offers class-leading performance, durability and stability as well as overall improved user experiences for developers. The Tinker Edge series offers a fully-embedded design with multi-core ARM® Cortex® processor, GPU and multimedia processor (up to 4K on the Tinker Edge R), and robust extensibility with GbE Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPIO pins, all in a compact size, making it an ideal IoT edge device. Each device is AI-ready, with an NXP i.MX 8M SoC on the Tinker Edge T and a Rockchip RK3399 PRO on the Tinker Edge R, as well as Edge TPU for high performance and low power consumption that is optimal for AI inference.

Because the NPU is optimized for handling neutral networks, the Tinker Edge series is ideal for bringing artificial intelligence capabilities from the cloud to a local device while keeping user data local and secure. Each device is made to meet low power demands that allow embedded applications to run online as well as offline in a field where connectivity is limited. A rich I/O interface means a multitude of expansion options, including HDMI, MIPI-DSI, Dual MIPI-CSI, USB 3, Type-C and 40-pin GPIOs. And each Tinker Edge computer comes with maker-friendly support, with a fully open-source Kernel that supports multiple APIs, including OpenGL, Vulkan, OpenCL, OpenVX, TensorFlow Lite, AndroidNN and Caffe.
