Description: Increase in battery drop after upgrade to Android Nougat 7.0
Good evening. I have a Zenfone 3 5.2", ZE520KL, and I upgraded my OS to Android 7.0 Nougat two days ago. Turns out the battery is being roughly drained. If, at a moderate rate of usage, I could expect my battery to last for 24h, now it only lasts 8h with some luck. On the Android 6.0, my phone would take 1h to 2h to drop from 100% to 99% of charge. Now, in 7min, with the phone in suspension/sleep mode, the counter went from 100% to 97%! I have noticed that many users have reported the same problem and I hope to know when Asus is going to fix this issue. I really don't want to downgrade the device to 6.0

Hi rodrigoadsa,

Could you tell what exactly app is draining your battery?

Also please show me your system version.

Moderator: This is not app draining the battery. Is firmware issue. Did you notice at Taiwan forum don't complain battery issue and Global forum complain? Just because TW Firmware don't have battery draining issue. Please use WW Firmware to test how horrible battery drain do.

Hi Ng Kok Yu,

ZE520KL TW users are sharing the same WW version with WW users.

I am using the latest version to test the battery, and did not actually find any specific part of system consuming a lot of battery.

As Android N just updated for few days, the system and apps all get updated to the version that compatible with N and this might take few days to get them all updated. please do monitor for few days more and check if problem persists.

If you find that battery is working fine in standby mode, then we need to find out what exactly drain the battery. but as you know, this is really hard to do so as people have different apps installed and hard to find out how they operate and how they play with their phone. Therefore, if problem persists, please kindly check the battery status and history details. It would be very helpful if you can notice which part of system or which app or what kind of operation that causing battery draining.( For example, you might notice that it might consume 20% battery in 1 hour by watching  youtube video with Android M version. but with Android N, It takes up 40% battery 1 hour by watching youtube video)

We will keep testing and monitoring this problem too.

Thanks for your feedback.

I informed again and again this problem is due to wrong cpu governor tunning
Worldwide manufacturers tune idle frequency near 400mhz to 600mhz
But in recent updates Asus tuned at 800mhz system never goes down to this which consume alot of power without load.
Thank you

Hi Ng Kok Yu,

This is the battery stats by using GSam Battery Monitor.

Phone Signal consume much battery. And what Yrs reply, CPU tuning at 800MHz is somewhat ridiculous. That is the main culprit of the battery drainer.

Hmmmm..
On Marshmallow, I think all CPU speed is 800MHz+- when there's no CPU load.( I lost the screenshot)

On Nougat, all CPU speed is 1689MHz+- when there's no CPU load. I think this is the main culprit which makes the battery drain abnormally.
