Bought this tablet last week and I'm very happy with it except for one thing - it can't be rooted. Asus, I'm begging you - please release the bootloader key so that we can root this otherwise excellent tablet. There are so many apps on GooglePlay that require root access.
I feel that if you release the bootloader key that allows ithe purchasers of the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 to root this device, it will result in increased sales of the unit for Asus and a huge community will form over at XDA which typically happens for unlocked devices. This is a superior product but the lack of root makes its options limited. Thank you..
I too wish for root. I live with FolderMount to create symbolic links from the internal storage to the external SDXC card. Things like making the downloads folder fill up the SDXC card instead of internal storage. And similarly lots of other apps which insist on storing their files internally and will not allow external storage. And like everyone else I use Titanium Backup which requires root. Along with the myriad of other useful tools root provides.
I agree, my last Asus tablet was the Memo Pad 8... It had an XDA tethered recovery for the intel chipset that allowed getting root. Since then not one single tablet from Asus has had any development due to the inability to achieve root.
So.... they continue this and think it does not hurt sales......
Quite the contrary!
I will not purchase another Asus device until bootloader is effectly able to be bypassed. It can remain locked if root is available. With MTK chipsets they have the SPFlasht Tool which is just like Odin for Samsung devices, but if having a locked bootloader prevents this tool from flashing or backing up, I will purchase from another vendor!
