Last year ASUS announced the Zenfone Max with a massive 5000 mah battery & a Quad-core Snapdragon 410 SOC. Later it got an upgraded model that packs an Octa-core Snapdragon 615. It was one of the most selling budget phones for ASUS in the 2nd Generation Zenfone series.
This time ASUS has leveled the game up with the Zenfone 3 Series and Zenfone Max has been upgraded with the new Zenfone 3 Max.
Zenfone 3 Max comes in two sizes that are 5.2 inch & 5.5 inch. Here we have the 5.5 inch variant that is priced at 17999 INR.
In the front we have a fusion of a 5.5 inch Full HD Display & a 2.5D Curved Glass. It feels like Gorilla Glass but, as the Specification sheet has no clue of it, I cannot confirm that.
At the top of the screen we have the 8MP Front Facing Camera, Earpiece, Proximity Sensor & the Notification LED and at the bottom we have the Capacitive Keys.
At the back, we have the 16MP Rear Facing Camera along with Duel-tone LED flash & Laser Auto-focus. The Fingerprint scanner is located below the Rear Camera. the ASUS logo can be located at the bottom.
The body is constructed with Aluminium Alloy & and has a solid feel in the hand. The weight is surprisingly less at 175 grams & it is only 8.3mm thick.
At the top we have the 3.5mm Audio Jack & the Noise Cancellation Microphone.
At the bottom, we can find the Primary Microphone along with the Speaker.
At the left side of the phone the Hybrid Sim slot can be located & on the other side the Volume Keys & the Power key can be located.
Coming to Technical Specifications, it has a 1.4GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 430 SOC, Adreno 505 GPU, 800MHz 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB Internal Storage, a massive 4100mah Battery, 16MP f-2.0 Rear Camera, 8MP f-2.2 Front Camera, 4G/3G/2G supported Duel-sim(Hybrid) slot, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth 4.1 .
In the Software department, it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box & has ZenUI 3.0 integrated into the OS.
In the box you get a Sim Ejecter Tool, 10W Charger, Micro USB Cable & OTG Cable along with the device ( I'm not sure if there will a Earphone in the box or not. The one I have, is a Review unit & it did not came with any Earphone. So, cannot confirm that if the Retail Units will have it or not. ).
