Hello,Everyone......
Today i`am going to share all the ways ,which are so simple but differrent,from which you can make your old zenfone pretty new and awesome again.
In this guide ,I will state what are the major problems faced by the first generation zenfone`s and very simple solutions,alternatives and tips to over come them. First generation zenfone`s are designed with awesome hardware,but have few software issues which annoy us !...so instead of waiting for any updates ,or fixes we can try some things to solve them and i promise you that you`re gonna love this ....!
We love using our zenfone ,but little things that bother us are :
1. Battery Issues.
2. Camera Problems.
3. Memory Issues.
4. Display & gaming problems.
5. Storage concerns.
6. Sound problems.
7. Browsing problems.
8. Security concerns.
9. Rooting issues.
And! After following this guide you can releive from all above with a snap of fingers and i`m pretty sure about it and hope it works all fine for you all guys.

>>STARTING : You can put a stop to all of your problems simply by refreshing your firmware. And im going to cover all the methods ,instead of issue wise decription.
The main reason to root our phones is to tweak and customize the things ,even at system level suitable to our needs.We try to use differrent apps and modify system files and other parts of firmware.
But what happens if you MESS UP ! ....?well in other android phones you need to reinstall the entire rom and bring everything back to stock firmware.But Zenfone users are damn lukcy ,they can revert anything back to stock pretty easy by just refreshing their firmware.
TO REFRESH YOUR FIRMWARE :
1.Download the appropriate firmware file for your zenfone .Make sure that the firmware that you are downloading and the firmware you have on your zenfone are same.
Please make sure that you download the firmware file of the SKU ,same as your zenfone .Downloading a different version may cause problems or even worse[brick your device].
2.Download the file first to your pc and then transfer it to your zenfone using usb cable.Place the firmware file in the internal storage of your zenfone .
3. For example the file you downloaded have the "UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-3.24.40.87-user" name.And as your zenfone has the same firmware ,you need to rename it accordingly.
Like you can make the system think that a new firmware is available.By renaming it to something like this "UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-3.24.40.90-user".
4.Then restart your zenfone ,a notification popup appears that "new firmware file detected"
5. Now install the firmware file normally, then " All the system files corrupted or modified will be replaced with original files ".All of your changes to system by rooting will be reversed.
After refreshing your firmware ,You are gonna loose your root.So if you need you need to root once again.

>>BATTERY : The major issue that bothers us is battery and now i think that is not a big problem to handle. I like to show you new methods to get maximum juice out your battery and your zenfone would live upto a 12 hours on normal usage and 4-5 hours on heavy usage and a standby time of 1 day! .
BATTERY SAVINGS WITHOUT ROOT ! :
1. Previously if you are not rooted user,i suggested some methods in my previous posts. which you can also refer from here : [OLD] IMPROVE BATTERY BACKUP IN ZENFONE WITHOUT ROOT.
2.But i know want to show you another method which can make a huge differrence in your zenfone battery life .This method dosent require root and this can give you control over your zefnone battery in a whole new way....
3. I want you to download and install an app called 'Brevent'.
Brevent is developed by the original author of Prevent Running, using black technology to app-standby or force-stop apps, prevent apps from running in long time. It doesn't require ROOT, nor system modification. Furthermore, it may doesn't work well on ROOT or modified system.
Brevent can know whether you are using an app. For example, if you open an app, it's free; if you press BACK or HOME to leave it, it will be App-Standby; if you clear it from recent tasks, it will be Force-Stop. If apps are awaken by other apps, Brevent will choose Force-Stop or App-Standby intelligently.

4. Now you need to connect the phone to your pc using usb cable .
5. Enable usb debugging in your zenfone.
6. Download the adb tools to your pc and place them in any folder and extract them.
7. Now press and hold right click in the folder and click on mouse right click.
8. A menu appears and from it select the " open command window here ".
9. Then make sure that you allow the permission popup in your phone in order to allow access to use USB debugging.
10. Now open the app and browse to enjoy tab,and click the start brevent button.
11. Then copy the code into the cmd and press enter
- adb -d shell sh /sdcard/Android/data/me.piebridge.brevent/brevent.sh
12. Then you can select to brevent the installed apps, system apps as well as framework apps. But breventing framework apps can lead to system instability!.
13. Now click on home button 7-8 times and brevent recognizes real home .
Then it force stops apps once you leave them by pressing back button .And makes them to stay in memeory if home button is pressed !.
14. Now you can force stops apps at system level without root and this method is working just perfectly fine with all 1st generation zenfones having android version 5.0 and up...
BUT WHAT IF YOU ARE IN KITKAT!.....you can refer to my previous post solve battery problems.
Pro tip: You can use brevent alongside greenify app to get maximum battery saving!!
BATTERY SAVINGS WITH ROOT !:
1.When rooted, The best way to save your battery is to control the cpu .
Many apps claim to optimize the cpu but in the order does more battery drain and random reboots which is somewhat annoying.So out of all ways i recommend you to use an app called "cpu adjuster" . Which actually uses 'profiles', By which it automatically can set the minimum cpu frequency while screen off or screen on.
By this you can set the cpu frequency to 800 Mhz or lowest possible one ,when screen is off .This gives you less battery drain in standby mode .And you can set it to 1200 Mzh or highest possible one ,when screen is on. This gives you the best performance with optimal battery usage while screen is on.

2. The other method is to control the running apps in the background.
Of course "greenify " is the first possible thing that strikes your mind.But you can also use an another beautiful app called as "servicely"...
servicely can be understood as an auto start manager which disables the recievers of the apps and their activities when not active thus saving battery .
""The newly updated servicely puts apps to sleep rather than killing them"".
But i suggest you to be careful with this app as one tap unknowingly can disable the app...
i would suggest that,You use either geenify or servicely with cpu adjuster to get best results .But not both!

>>CAMERA : The only thing which catches our attention in any zenfone is camera.
It will be a good camera with pixel master technology.But i have been seeing many people complaining a color differences and blurry rgb lines in photos and also while capturing photos .So i would like tell to best available ways to make the zenfone camera awesome again.
TWEAKING THE ASUS CAMERA APP :
1. First of all make sure that the asus camera app is upto date .And i would aslo request to update only using google play store becasue there will be other newer versions available in the internet.Which we think are new and optimized ,But they are for newer zenfones but not for 1st generation zenfones.so sometimes when you update camera app from outside using apk,there are chances that the camera captures degraded color and intensity pictures.!
>If you are facing problem like blurry lines ,then go to camera setting and turn off optimization and set it to OFF.
>sometimes ,You cannot take the pictures with good clarity .As the things you are trying to capture need not to be only immovable.And if you set the image quality in camera settings from standard to -> fine then the photos may lack the intensity as image capturing mainly focusses on quality rather than performance.So if you are facing any kind of lack in true color or intensity of captured photos you can simply revert the settings and see.
>Even the focus mode (infinity or smart AF or continuous AF) also decides the clarity of the picture .Do some research with it and find out what works best with your zenfone and then you can capture perfect shots without missing. like i did with my zenfone 5.
>You can decrease or increase the camera resolution (megapixels) based on your requirement.
2. The other work arround is to use a 3rd party camera apps as your default camera app if you are not satisfied with the stock camera.
I tried atmost all of the camera apps in the play store ,all are the same and gives nothing more than stock camera in zenfone.
But i came across an app called Cameringo+ Filters Camera. This app had pretty davanced options and this camera app gives more crisp and better pictures in almost all zenfones i tried.

>>MEMORY : In kitkat and lollipop you must be wondering that always the free ram available will be very less ,becasue many apps will be running in the background.The conventional task manager in the zenui may be useful but not helpful while ram is full.
USING MOBILE MANAGER EFFICIENTLY:
1.Asus auto start manager is not available in all the devices.But for those zenfones which have auto start manager can be used to disable the receivers to speed up the device and free up memeory.
2.But while you press 'Boost button' some apps are cleared from the memory and some are restarted.We can also use 3rd party app to do this .If we use taskmanagers it does more harm than good .Becasue they kill the running apps ,which however are restarted by the android system.Which causes more battery drain.And if they are allowed to stay in the memory No extra memory is spent on loading those apps into the memory again.!
USING REFRESH BUTTON IN ANDROID ,LIKE IN WINDOWS:
1.Its obvious that everyone knows the refresh button in windows ?.What if we have a same kind of refresh button in android.
There is an app called as fast reboot which serves the purpose.
2.You can place this app or its widget in the home screen ,and everytime you open this app ,it automatically restarts all the process which free the memeory.And this also speeds up the device.You can use both buit-in task manager and this app in your zenfone to free up your memory efficiently.
3.And if you dont like all the hassle ,in which everytime you need to use some widget to free memory.You can actually make use of an app called "Auto memory manager".
Forget about "kill all" buttons and all the hassle. AMM lets you customize the out-of-memory manager settings on your phone so you don't have to do it yourself with task killers. This works on both rooted and unrooted phones. So just start it up and forget about it.

>> DISPLAY : In any phone we estimate just anything about that device by what we see and of course its the display.And in zenfones some games get low fps and get sluggish and its very annoying to play our fav games in laggy phone even if the phone could run it very smoothly !.
TWEAKING THE SPLENDID :
1.If you want to grab more battery then it is ideal to use "balanced mode" becasue it maintains a balance between the vividness and safe colors(which dont strain our eyes )
2.But if we want crisp display while watching movies or playing games we can use vivid mode which gives a colorful display with great rgb colors!.
3. Splendid also provides a custom mode in which we can set hue and saturation to our needs.
4.If we want to read books in zenfone it also provides a blue light filter mode which is preferred most becasue its display will be atmost like reading a book.
GETTING MAXIMUM FPS IN GAMES :
1.You can actually acheive maximum fps and no lag performance while playing games using simple steps.I would suggest you do these steps before playing a game and disable as soon as you end your playing.Becasue they are gonna be good while playing games but in normal usage !.
2.Go to the developer options and select the options as shown in the picture
It is always unclear for me to enable
'force 4x MSAA' or not .Because in some games it gives smooth performance and in some games it will make the game worse which can be played well without enabling that option.!!! I also want to say that enabling this option sometimes also makes our phone laggy and even reduces fps!But it definitely increases anti aliasing!!..............That`s what i know to my knowledge .Using this or not is entirely in your hands!
3.By doing this upto some extent you can boost your games performance and fps thus enjoying good graphics in games in your display of your zenfone !.Or you can use chainfire 3d app using rooted zenfone to play high end games smoothly.

>> STORAGE CONCERNS : We all love to store much data in our phones becasue it nessecary for us to have data readily available.But If the phone is loaded with buit in apps it becomes a burden for us to have free space and to store new data .
DEBLOAT THE PRE _LOADED APPS: We can actually remove the space hungry apps and use the alternative lite apps in order to save space.We can also disable the rarely used pre-loaded apps which consume a lot of space .
IDEAL ALTERNATIVES TO POWER/SPACE HUNGRY APPS :
1.Best alternative for Official facebook app : " uffin for Facebook"

2. If you have a rooted zenfone then you can actually use an app called "trimmer (fstrim)" to free more space!.
Almost all Android devices use NAND chips for data storage. Because of how NAND chips work, they may become significantly slow after some time. Trimming would help to restore NAND Chips performance to their initial value. Although Android 4.3+ supports trim natively, users have no control over this process and Android doesn't trim the storage for a very long time.
"Trimmer (fstrim)" helps you to run trim on your device manually if you feel it has become laggy.

>> SOUND PROBLEMS :
1.Well the only solution to the low sound in zenfones is to buy a bluetooth speaker as even if rooted the workarrounds seem to be not bringing up the sound up to the mark.But there is an app worthy to note here. "Volume Booster GOODEV".
Simple, small, free app to boost your speaker or headphone sound volume. Useful for movies, audio books and music.
WARNING : Use at your own risk. Playing audio at high volumes, especially for a prolonged amount of time, can destroy speakers and/or damage hearing. Some users HAVE reported destroyed speakers and earphones. If you hear distorted audio, lower the volume (but it may be too late).
NOTE : you can try this app at your own risk and i am not responsible for any kind of damage .But this app tends to increase volume when audio wizard is toggled to smart mode and boosted volume upto 30% I request you to not to go beyond that.
2.We may not be able to tweak volume when played through speakers but we can increase the volume using a music player called "stellio music player"

1.well ,we need to have good antivirus protection to our zenfones.If you have mobile manager installed it automatically scans for viruses but if not you can install any one of top android antivirus apps.
Other than this apps, i want to suggest another two powerful apps on the market which protects your phones flawlessly
they are "MALWAREBYTES" and "LOOKOUT" antiviruses apps
2.Its ideal to turn off installing apk`s from unknown resources .And install apps only from Legitimate sources like play store .

>>ROOTING ISSUES :
1.If you are facing any problems after rooting unrooting is the only option.
Otherwise you can also refresh your firmware and then root again.

2.Random reboots occurs in zenfones if you use certain apps granted with root permissions.
*clean master
*Deep sleep battery saver
*Device control(very rare)
so try to avoid this apps mainly becasue they make your zenfone boot randomly
there are even other apps which cause random reboots so avoid this apps.
3.If you grant root permission to malicious app it could be a disaster so when doing any kind of experimenting with rooting using a new app always have "STUBBORN TROJAN KILLER " app installed : Stubborn trojan killer
