Hi Suraj,

1.the phones becomes lagay.. A lot. If a app is updating in background then you are not able to use you phone.. Because it becomes in responsive..
Ans: During application updates kindly check the RAM memory of your device and make sure that most of your apps are already clear from the recent task list. We would even ensure to update those apps regularly for better performance.

2. The heating issue arrised in the phone..
Ans: As mentioned above, you will need to check your background running apps as they should be cleared if not in use after moderate usage of gaming and continuous browsing on 3G/4G may heat up the device. We would suggest to check if battery even heats up. If it does, you will need to check the battery at the authorized service center.

3. The phone freezes during many processes/apps.
Ans: As we mentioned in the above first issue, this confirms that the RAM memory on your device and CPU processes maybe running continuously on background. We would suggest you to use the mobile manager app so that apps which are running under background would stop until and unless the app is selected for usage.

4. And obviously the battery draining issue still presist..
Ans: You can use two apps where you can control your app usage as well as increase battery life. Go to settings> battery> select top right corner> tap on three dots> select power saver and you will have list of options where you can select to optimize battery usage.

If the issue persist we would still suggest you to monitor this issue under safe mode for couple of days.

How to Enter Safe Mode?

Apply to: ZenFone, PadFone, FonePad

When power is off:

1.      Long press power key to boot.

2.      When ASUS logo appears, press and hold volume down key till home screen appears

3.      “Safe Mode” reminder appears on the lower-left of home screen

When power is on:

1.      Long press power key.

2.      Tap and hold “Power Off”.

3.      Tap “OK” of Reboot to Safe Mode window.

4.      “Safe mode” reminder appears on the lower-left of home screen.

How to Exit Safe Mode ?

Restarting your device. Your device will now be exit safe mode.

Make sure you perform factory reset on your device where we can identify if the issue still persist on the firmware.

Hi Suraj,

WW-21.40.1220.2153 is the latest FOTA for your device.

Kindly update and let us know if the issue still persist.

If you have not received the FOTA, download manually.

You can also go to ASUS official website to download newer firmware and instruction manual.
Note:

Please make sure the firmware SKU you download is conformed to what on your phone, eg., WW -> WW, CN -> CN, TW -> TW. Incorrect SKU will lead to update failure.
You can not change the SKU from one to another, eg., WW -> TW, and also can not downgrade your firmware, eg., V2.20.40.13 -> V2.19.40.18.
During update process, please charge your phone with AC adaptor or make sure the phone has at least 15% battery life.

Steps for update:
1. Go to "Need Help?" page of ASUS official website http://www.asus.com/support to download ZIP file of firmware.
Note: Double click the ZIP file after downloading is completed. If the content is another intact ZIP file (as shown in red on picture below),
              please upzip the file again.
If the content is not an intact ZIP file (as shown in yellow), you do not have to do anything.
Close the ZIP file after check.

2. Connect your phone with PC via micro USB cable, and copy the ZIP file to the root directory of internal storage of phone.

3. Detach micro USB cable from the phone to make the notification for firmware update poped up on status bar.

4. Tap "System Update File Detected..." and follow steps to update firmware.

Note: Steps or photos shown above may have variation by different models.

For some upgraded versions that have great difference, e.g., from Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) to KitKat (Android 4.4),
you may need to upgrade to a "bridge version" in advance to proceed.
Please see picture below for example.
