Hello Zentalkers, today we will look at a very innovative app called share link which is one of the core apps of Zen UI.
Share link allows you to share content between your mobile & PC or mobile & any other mobile.
P.S - It works when both the Phone & zenfone are on same wifi connection.

Let’s have a look at how to use it with your windows based PC.

1. When you connect your phone with you get the below popup window asking you to install Asus Pc suite (Only if you have latest firmware on your zenfone 2) which has all the apps & tools which will make it seamless for you to connect, transfer data between your phone & PC. It will install the sharelink PC app also with other apps which is needed to work with sharelink app on your phone.

2. If you don’t want to follow the easy first step above, you can just install only the sharelink app for PC .
Goto http://sharelink.asus.com
Once you hit enter after entering above link, you will get a popup asking for location to install the app or it will directly start downloading the app to default set location which is mostly the downloads folder.

3. Once downloaded open up the app by double clicking its icon on your PC. You will see the below screen.

4. Let us suppose you want to send something from your PC.To do that click on the send button and the following box will open up. Click the plus/add symbol on top right side corner of screen, navigate to the file you want to send and select it or you can just drag and drop files to the light green box which says so and tap on send and then tap on the name of your phone when displayed and click send.

5. To receive the file on your phone ,open the sharelink app on your mobile

6. Once the app opens up just click ‘Receive File’ & select ‘From PC’

7. It will try & locate to other devices using share link which are on same wifi connection.

8. Once it finds your PC which is trying to send a file as per step 4. It will instantaneously download the file with in the blink of an eye literally and you will see the completed message against the file.
You will even see the same completion message in your notification drawer also.

9. Once done you can click the back button on your Zenfone to close the share link app and confirm you want to stop receiving files to close the app and subsequently close the app on your PC too.

If you need to send something from your phone to PC you need to follow the same steps but now your sending device will be your phone and receiving device will be your PC

Now lets see how to use sharelink between 2 phones using Wi-Fi Direct.

1. Open up the share link app on both the phones you want to exchange files between.

2. A) Click send file on the phone you are going to send file from and select the file you want to send and click share selected files button at the bottom. You can select one or multiple files to be sent at once.

B) Now you will see a new window in which all the files you have selected to share will show, confirm and click send bottom at top right corner of the display.

Above is the view you get when you select a single or multiple files for sending.

3. Now once you click send it will start searching for a device and display the devices names which are ready to be connected and are using sharelink.
Once you see the name of the device you want to send to, tap it and the app will show you the sending progress.

4. You have to follow the same receiving steps we did when we received files from a PC.
Just open up the app and tap receive and say from Mobile that’s it you are done.

14.1.jpg     14.2.jpg     14.3.jpg

Once both phone connect you will see the receiving progress and once it gets completed you will see a completed message alongside the files as below.

5. Once you are done receiving click back and confirm you are done receiving to quit the app.

This is how you use sharelink to transfer files between your phone , PC & phone to phone
Do let me know in comments if you need any assistance or run into any problems.
Cheers !!!

Hello friends, I was trying to send some files using Share Link from my PC to my ZenFone 2 Laser. But my phone could not fetch the files. I understand that the problem is both the devices are not on the same network because of which the transfer is not taking place. But how is this network to be established? Do I need to tether my phone's network? If that is the case, I could have mailed the files to me from my PC and opened them in my phone, then what is the point of this app? May be I am missing something regarding the network connection. Please help.

And I use this  android transfer app, which also aupports wireless data transfer, and  allows you to save a lot of time to  transfer or backup text messages, contacts, photos, and other  media files like videos, music files.
Transfer text messages to computer.
