Our Ears are one of the most vital organs of our body & to please them is not an easy task for electronic brands who have been pioneering audio devices like Speakers, Earphones & stuff like that. Apparently no brand has ever made any audio producing gear that reached to that pleasing experience upto 100% but, brands now-a-days really make great audio equipment.

ASUS is not a new player in this game as they have been making Gaming Headsets, Wired & Wireless Earphones & recently they jumped into the earphone segment of Smartphones with their budget earphones known as ZenEar. Now they have made an advanced version of that earphone & it is known as the ZenEar S.

In this Review let's find how the ZenEar S stands when it comes to that pure ear-pleasing experience. So, without wasting any more time. Let's jump into it !

Inside The Box

rvw 00.jpg

The box itself is quite a bit different this time. I liked the fact that ASUS moved to a more premium packaging this time instead of going for a ordinary one like the original ZenEar.

Moving to the inside though, there are the R & L pairs of the ZenEar S & some extra earpads bundled in the package & nothing else. It's not any kind of retail package though so, in case of retail packaging ASUS will probably bundle the User Guide & Warrenty card as well.

It's good to see that ASUS is actually giving three different size earbuds. The larger one is simmilarly sized to the stock one & the size decreases from medium to small afterwards. So, good steps here to ensure a perfect fit for everyone.

Design & Build Quality

In terms of Design this thing has quite a Premium look to it. Made with metal, the quality feels quite impressive. In terms of metal build this thing isn't heavy on ears either. A pretty confortable pair of earphones overall.

The wire is also made of a nice material & it's basically the same wire as the regular ZenEar's wire. Now, The wire is a B+ grade wire I'll say as I am using ZenEar as my regular headphones & I have the clear idea that, how much quality it'll hold in long term usage  But, looking at the price I can't really complain on that.

As you can see in the picture above, there is only one button that will double as a Call Receive/Disconnect & a Music Play/Pause button. So, no volume controls built in the headphone controller in case that matters to you. I personally never use headphone volume controls so, it's not a big deal for me.

Audio

The most important part here is definitely the Audio output. Last time when I did the original ZenEar article, many of you guys had complains that I have missed many important points that could be really useful in terms of better understanding. I'll definitely try to make sure that, such things don't repeat this time.

Coming to the Audio quality, this is one of the best sounding mid-end earphones I have heard in a while. I have used several earphones from several audio brands including Sennheiser, Audio Technica, JBL etc. I think the ZenEar S is sounds quite a bit simmilar to the Sennheiser CX 275s. Not exactly same sounding but, they are pretty close.

Keeping the comparisons aside, the ZenEar S has pretty balanced Highs-Mids-Lows. Though, I felt Lows were slightly better compared to the Highs. Not a huge deal but, at Max Volume Levels the Highs were sometime a bit hard to the ears. The Bass is good so, that boosts the listning experience a lot.

The  Noise Cancellation is very good. Better than the original ZenEar. The Microphone is exactly the same as the original ZenEar. It's a pretty decent Mic with good Audio input capabilities. So, overall it was quite a pleasing experience with the Audio.

Verdict

The ZenEar S is stands in a very good position among it's competitors. ASUS has done a great job with engineering of the hardware. It has Great Build Quality, Good Sound Output with balanced audio levels & Decent Audio Input as well. Here are my ratings on the same

Design: 8/10
Build Quality: 9/10
Audio Output: 8.5/10
Audio Input: 8/10
Noise Cancellation: 9/10
Overall: 8.5

This device isn't available to purchase in India yet. But, in case ASUS is planning to launch it, I'll say the max MRP should not go above 2199 INR. In case it's priced more then that, I'll say it'll be kinda overpriced. If you want one right now, currently it only comes bundled with the Zenfone 3 Ultra & Zenfone 3 Deluxe. So, you can't buy it separately.

That's the end of this ZenEar S review. If you liked it, give me a big Thumbs Up & also, tell me your view in comment section below !

Catch you in my next article so, till then Good Bye ......
