Photowalk is a favorite activity for most photography enthusiasts - from enhancing their skills in photography, taking a tour and exploring the beauty of places to meeting people with the same interests as theirs. Local groups are formed to organize and participate on such event. Every now and then you will see invitations and announcements for photowalks.
Manila, a go-to place for photowalk gatherings, is known for its accesibility and diverse picturesque facades and sites. For a person like me with no photowalk experience at all, here are some of the places that I want to explore and take photos of.
You can always see and read the Intramuros in almost all articles written with the subject “Best orTop places for photowalk”. Why not? Aside from its historical background, Intramuros offers a classic Spanish-Filipino feel and look. From its Spanish-Era buldings, stone-structured churches to the traditional transportsystem – the “calesa” – all are beauty to take photo of.
Manila Baywalk
Almost every photographers I believe, have their own versions of the sunset in Manila Bay. The mix of the orange and darkblue sky, plus the silhouette of the palm trees along the area is worth capturing. Incase you weren’t able to capture the sunset, the beautiful Manila skyline andnight lights can be seen at the Harbor Square. Not to mention, it also have yachts parked near the bay.
Being the place for most of Chinese locals, the Chinatown in Binondo features a lot of interesting view – from its streets, shops, restaurants, lucky charms sold along thestreets and many other more. But if you really wanted a more festive kind of shot, visit the Binondo during Chinese New Year celebration. You can see dragon dancing, colorful decorations and people wearing traditional Chinese dresses.
If you’re looking to take streets and humans as your subject, then this place is your choice. Aside from the well-known Quiapo church, you can see diverse lifestyles in here – from vendors, standbys, students, etc.
I know there are a lot of places around Manila where you can explore your passion for photography. Maybe you know more? Let us know!
Smartphones in today’s photowalk
In today’s photowalk, using smartphones are becoming a thing too, just like what the ASUS Zentalk team is about to offer to its fans. The Pixel Master Photowalk happening this October 21 would feature the Zenfone 4 and other Zenfone series. The ZenFone 4’s powerful camera featurethat can be compared with DSLRs because of its dual wide angle lens, will behanded to some lucky fans for them to try. Interesting, right? This event will happen at BGC, Taguig and Manila Baywalk.
