I  request asus to add an option in settings so that we can use our external SD card for storing APP data. Device Internal memory is already very low and after lollipop update when all the preinstalled Apps have been updated, I have only 158 MB remaining storage which is not sufficient to install any other App from Play store (giving error insufficient storage). Also in specifications it is written that 64GB expendable memory but can you answer "what is the use of that 64 GB memory if all the Apps are storing data in internal memory". your pre-installed APP 'Clean master' says "your Internal memory is your SD card so there will be no benefit of moving Apps to SD card".
I thought, may be you will add that option to set default memory to external SD card in lollipop update but still stuck on low memory. Even micromax and other non-branded (I consider ASUS as a brand) devices have that option to set the default write disk but this is shocking that why you guys have not added this option in your devices. Really this fonepad is a very good device but when you install "whatsapp" or other Apps, all the App data is going to be saved on internal memory. Why you have given a memory card slot? Just to save videos. You are developing your ZenUI but what about other Apps, after Updating your ZenUI Apps, no memory remains for to install other must have Apps (Even after setting preferred install location to "External storage" in settings).  Please do the trick for setting the default write storage as external SD card then no tablet in the market will beat this fonepad in price, memory and features.

Couldn't agree more. I'm using FE380CG (Your bigger brother). And have the same issue. When i download image from 9gag, pinterest, etc. It's all directed to internal. My ext microsd become useless, very useless. So let's hope ASUS DevTeam saw this post and grant us our wishes.

Am using fe170cg updated to Lollipop, extremely disappointed to know that I cant move apps to external storage even though there is an option available:

Asus customized settings --> app installation setting --> prefer external storage

asus kindly fix this bug and also give an option to remove unnecessary pre-installed applications which take up almost entire rom space

Hi patel88,

This cannot be done as this is Android feature limitation by the app developers,

You can set you app installation to external memory:
Go to settings => Select Asus Customized Settings => Select App installation Settings => you get two options Internal / External Storage

Even if you set the prefer storage to external, there would be certain apps which may not allow you to shift from internal to external as locked by app developers.

Even you can shift your apps manually by going to app and selecting the app itself and tapping on Move to SD Card.

Apps Like Facebook and Whatsapp cannot and will never be shifted.

I have fe170cg 1Mb 4 Gb updated to lollipop 5.0. I faced similar costraint, I solved this by  (A) Rooting my fone see post #360 by G. Ashwinkumar in Xda forum ( I am not allowed to post link here so pls google-  "root fe170cg lollipop") (B) Made Ext2 (linux) 8Gb partion on my external SD with PC / laptop. (C) Downloaded & installed app link2sd from playstore.(D) Moved with link2sd  my user apps , (apk, data, dex, library) to external sd. (E) Now my downloaded apps directly install on external Sd. (F) I  have 67 user apps installed (occupying 3.83Gb on external Sd ) but still have 691 mb free space on internal storage. Hope this helps u guys.

I agree with you. I have the same problemi.e. of default write disk for user data could be changed its internal storage by default
.
i am using zenfone max(bought it 15days back) the phone is nice with the  point of view camera, battery , locker , cleaner , over all score I can 7.5/10.
but i am faceing following problems that are as follows
(1) device write disk for user data and app data is internal storage by default could not be changed to micro sd card(biggest problem)(could be easily selected in my previous device xolo A500s ips via setting>storage >default write disk>sd card).
(2) Alam do not played when device is switched off(this never happened in my previous device xolo a500s ips)
(3) each time I switch off my device and switch on again. ES explorer asks for a permission to "select memory" card for coping files, making new folders in sd card(this never happened in my previous device xolo a500s ips).
(3) each time I switch off my device and switch on again apps like share it, whatsapps, hike & ES starts storing data in internal storage (this never happened in my previous device xolo a500s ips).
(4) in camera fliker is given 50hz and 60 hz Automatic is not given.
otherwise it is a very good phone very sexy in terms of hardware & OS (UI & os features)
there is a request from asus to fix these Bugs asap and provide an update for the above issues.

There are hundreds if not thousands of ASUS customers asking for this to be done, yet ASUS is silent on the issue! And it seems that they don't want there customers to have control of where and how they store there 'PERSONAL DATA'! Maybe that's because they've done a deal to ensure that everyone has to store their 'PERSONAL DATA' on an outside server so that their 'PERSONAL DATA' can be accessed by certain people who want to be able to know everything about us?
This is made even more obvious by the fact that ASUS wipe your 'WARRANTY' if you 'ROOT' your Zenfone and therefore take control of your own 'PERSONAL DATA AND STORAGE OPTION'!
How about ASUS what do you say to that???????????????
