Description: My screen pattern lock seems to have changed without my knowledge. It is somehow different from the pattern lock I set originally, which actually still works to unlock the phone on startup. How can there be two separate patterns?

My screen lock pattern suddenly changed without my knowledge or authorization. Since no one else has access to my phone, i think it might be a glitch. I attempted to change the pattern lock back to the pattern i always use, and was unable to. Asus customer service advised me to hard reset. Unfortunately, i had to get off the phone before i could have him walk me through the reset.
Later on my own, i attempted the reset. i discovered i was unable to set up fingerprint authentication without the pattern or a pin, so i tried to set it up with a pin, and received the error "unfortunately, settings has stopped." After this it would request a pin in order to change/set up authentication, and the pin i enter is invalid!

What is wrong? How can there be two pattern locks- one valid only for start up but not screen lock? How can i fully wipe this phone to set up authentication again without errors?

Hi kellylence,

Do you mean the pin you set up is valid for start-up process, but invalid for screen lock?

How you unlock screen? fingerprint?

Hi kellylence,

Yes, exactly. The pattern lock would not unlock my screen, but when i shut down/restarted the phone, the pattern suddenly worked. Then, once the phone fully booted, the pattern would not work to unlock the screen.

I couldn't get into my phone so i did a hard reset, and still having some problems, i am not using a screen lock at all.

Hi  kellylence,

Sorry for my late reply.
Which firmware version are you currently on?
D you still encounter the same problem after reset?

Thanks.
