Hey guys,
One of the most important aspects of choosing a smarthphone these days is picking the one with maximum amount of RAM
In fact lots of OEM mark RAM as their Unique Selling Point. It's not uncommon these days to find out that your phone has more RAM than your laptop.
Another intriguing question arises, should you "clean" your ram so that more ram is available for usage?
Let's find out more about this.
WHAT IS RAM?
All smarthphones and computers have basically 2 types of storage:
*RAM
*ROM
ROM or often referred to as "Internal storage" is way cheaper than RAM and can reach terabytes, but is very slow as compared to RAM. It is used to store various data and makes it avialble to the RAM when needed.
RAM is the volatile disk space, that is upon removing power supply, it losses all data stored. RAM is very expensive compaed to ROM but the major advantage is that it is VERY FAST. It temporary stores data and makes it avialble for CPU to compute. You can use analogy of an office desk. The internal storage is the drawers in the desk while RAM is the space on the desk just next to you. So the fastest way to access data is use the desk space [RAM] rather than reaching out to the drawers.
-------------FREE MEMORY IS WASTED MEMORY----------
The days are gone when android was not so capable enough to manage RAM effectively. The current itirations are capable of managing RAM without the need of any apps.
When you open any app then close it, a small "image" containing usefull data gets stored inside RAM, so when you open the next time the apps opens much faster because CPU doesn't need to refer to internal storage for data. On the other hand if you clear the RAM, on opening the app, the CPU gets the data from internal storage then to RAM and finally uses it. Therefore making the task slow.
So if you think it is usefull to free up RAM, then probably it is not. Android automatically cleares any unwanted portion of RAM if needed, say for playing a game.
Concluding- do not fall in traps of apps saying "memory booster" and stuff, it's of no use. Simply keep calm and let android manage your phone.
COMMENTS WELCOMED, DO TAKE PART IN THE POLL.
