How to use "device protection" on phone?

When "Device protection" is activated, you have to verify your Google account in Setup Wizard after performing a hardware reset. With this function, when your phone is lost or stolen, anyone who takes your phone will not be able to use it.
Note: This function is now only available for ZE551ML sold in US in firmware version 2.19.40.22_20150627_5104 or later.


Activating device protection
To enable device protection, please be sure to sign in your Google account on your device and set "Pattern", "PIN" or "Password" as screen lock.
1. Make sure you sign in your Google account on your device.
   


2. Select either Pattern, PIN or Password in [Settings] -> [Lock screen] -> [Screen lock].
    Device protection will be automatically enabled.
   





How this function protects your phone
1. After performing hardware reset, you have to sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on your device to verify your account.
   Note: If verification is not done, you will not able to use this device.
   


2. After verification the setup proceeds and now you can use another account to sign in.
