Never Let Me Forget: Unlocking the 1st Episode

Last September 1, ASUS Philippines once again shook up the online world with the much-awaited pilot premiere of the Bea Alonzo-starred mini-series, “Never Let Me Forget”, which exclusively aired on the ASUS Philippines Facebook page. Widely-regarded as this generation’s Movie Queen, this was actually Bea’s very first foray into webisodes or online films.

And as an added treat to ZenFans across the country, this particular web series also featured the new ASUS ZenFone 4 smartphone. Lucky for me, I didn’t have any plans for the long weekend, so watching this mini-film was the perfect way to kick-off my September!

“Never Let Me Forget” revolves around the story of love, friendship and passion between Alette, an up-and-coming mobile photographer, and Matej (Bea Alonzo and newcomer Matej Loub) – once a couple who has since then been apart for a number of reasons -- I, myself, have loads of theories in mind.

We begin with the scene of Alette being all smiles as she has finally fulfilled her long-time dream of launching her first photo exhibit – all photos on display were taken by the ZenFone 4. But we sort of get that feeling of she is yearning for something… or someone!

We then find out that her former beau, Matej, has been away all this time in Prague – or so we thought! To her surprise, she then receives a congratulatory text message from him, coupled with (no pun intended) wish-you-were-here or wish-I-was-there feeling! After an exchange of text messages, Mattej then teases Alette with a cliff-hanger message:

Throughout this 2-minute film we are treated with more cinematic flashbacks of them as a couple (that background music is literally, music to my ears). At this point, I was feeling all sorts of emotions – happiness for them as young, restless and zestful lovers; regret of how things have now come to be for them; and hopeful that everything will all fall into place for them – yes, I was that invested, and can you blame me?! The ending of the first episode left me hanging during Alette’s and Matej’s moment in the yard of the exhibit.

Damn. Before Sunrise  + Before Sunset + 500 Days of Summer feels all over again!
