For the first 2 weeks My Zenfone 5 worked so well until last friday january 9 i was having troule charging the phone. I thought the charger was the problem but i tried using the same charger with my sister's zenfone 5 and it worked properly. i tried using different chargers, it worked but it was charging so slow.

Then i tried draining the battery, thinking that this is the solution to the problem. When I turned it on, it charged so fast so i thought the phone is back to normal. Until yesterday, when the battery was almost empty, it was not charging. Last night, i reset the phone because I thought updating to Android KITKAT must have affected phone charging. AND i actually lost some of my files.

There were no changes, the phone is not charging. until now the phone is off and it won't turn on. Im using a different charger.

Whenever I charge it, the red/orange LED would appear. The battery in charging mode would aappear on the screen but after an hour or 2 battery is still empty, it won't even turn on.

I wanted to open and get the  battery but im worried that the warranty might get voided. I don't know what to do with my phone. I am so disappointed. Can you give any solutions. I've been using this for less than 3 weeks.

Asus will probably tell you to take it to service center. Good luck.

yeah, the thing is, I'm residing here in California and they don't have ASUS service center around. They have one in Georgia, Utah, New York and Pennsylvania but they have walk in service only as posted on their website.

I'm still having second thought going to cellphone repair shop because of the warranty.

but thanks for replying anyway!

I understand. Wait for Asus to reply. They will hopefully reply in next 8 hours. They usually do.

do you think it's advisable to go to a cellphone repair shop here in USA? because the problem would be, people here are not that familiar with the phone they might add damage to the phone.

Service centers were located far from your location so maybe the dealers were you get it could help with the problem. I believe the dealers themselves will send your phone to the nearest service centers as I think that's standard procedure based on my experience on other phones.
