Reminder:
Adobe Flash Player for Android is no longer being updated (not ASUS’ fault; the decision was made by Adobe and Google),
so it is relatively riskier in terms of security and loopholes compared to the PC version.
So if you think security is as important as your life, please press the “Previous Page” button on the top-left corner of the browser.
If you already purchased Puffin and think it is great, you can also press the previous page.
If you don’t think security is that important and you don’t want to purchase Puffin, or if you just want to try to execute Flash on your smartphone, then please read on.

Foreword:
Since I had a need for Flash, I found methods to install it on Zenfone 4 and 5;
however, I wasn’t able to get it to run properly like most other users on the Internet.
I later found out that Flash player doesn’t seem to support Atom and Tegra processors.
So I surfed the Internet and found the articles listed above, tried it out on my ZF4 (because it was rooted), and it installed and executed successfully.

Now to the ZF5; I didn’t root it and I don’t want to root it, so what can I do?
I started trying to use the fastboot flash update method and created a custom update.zip to try to flash it in (using the method taught by moderator Shakalaca to create supersu_zenfone4.zip),
but it was unsuccessful no matter how I tried; and luckily the phone wasn’t bricked.
Suddenly, I remembered that Qualcomm users used APK, so why can’t our Intel Atom do the same?
So I went ahead and modified the APK myself.

I don’t know whether there are any faster methods than mine, I’m just providing the method that I used:

1. Go to the K900 website to download and extract the needed files.

2. Go to the official Adobe website and download Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81), then change the name to flashplayer.apk

3. Find the files apktool1.5.2 and AndroidResEdit v1.5, download and extract them.

4. Copy the flashplayer.apk file just downloaded into the same folder where apktool.bat is under the apktool1.5.2 folder that was just extracted.

5. Run cmd as the administrator, cd to the apktool.bat folder and enter the command

  1. apktool if flashplayer.apk
Copy

6. Continue to enter the next command
  1. apktool d flashplayer.apk
Copy

cmd finally should look like this

111.jpg

And an additional flashplayer folder should appear in the folder where apktool.bat is.

7. As shown in the image, copy and replace the 4 .so files acquired from K900 into the folder that just appeared \flashplayer\lib\armeabi-v7a\.

8. Now we can pack it by continuing using the cmd that we previously used, and enter the command

  1. apktool b flashplayer.apk
Copy

Now when we go to the folder \flashplayer\dist\, we will see a new flashplayer.apk file.

9. Prepare signature; start AndroidResEdit v1.5, Signature>Sign apk>load the flashplayer.apk that was just generated>sign it.
At this time it will ask you to save it as a new file; so give it a new name and save it (EX:flashplayer_x86).

10. Copy it onto the phone and install it.

Actual test of Zenfone5 no root running FlashPlayer (Browser: Firefox & Chrome that does not support Flash).

During the installation process I found out that the anti-virus software I installed was actually working…
(I’ve installed countless apk with unknown origins and it never showed a warning before)

Obviously I don’t know why there’s the warning.
Is it that the .so files have problems? Problems occurred when we packed the apk? Or is it because that the signature does not match etc.?
I’ve only used Android for less than a year, so I don’t know how to analyze it.
Zenfone5 was my first smartphone… (I’m guessing it’s the signature’s problem)

The anti-virus software said that it found a strange file -APK - cloud reputation [Susp]
When I checked the feedback on the official website, others users also reported that this problem seems to occur with custom-packed APPs.

Ok; I’m getting off-topic.
I guess 8 out of 10 people will scroll down directly for the download location. lol
