Today I am posting this article as someone who has never used an SLR camera (including SLR-like / MILC) and I only own a DC for dummies from 7/8 years ago; I only started to learn how to take photos and how to edit photos (good kids don’t learn this ) since I joined ZENTALK last year.
I really have to thank ASUS for the series of photography competitions and seminars they held, which ignited my passion towards photography.
They also allowed me to think about composition when taking photos; from just pressing the shutter intuitively until now I will spend time waiting just to capture an image, I will wait until my subject stops at the position that I want.

(This even caused people to doubt that I was posting photos taken with DC and SLR and even in the competition section…)

Since I received the phone to review kind of late this time, plus my motherboard died on me, so there were already a lot of details on testing software on various forums and ZENTALK; therefore I will just be posting “original photos”.

First of all let’s take a look at some PK photos that are required for box-opening articles. I borrowed a D90 APSC from a friend when we went to travel last year, and although it is kind of an old SLR camera, it was the king of frame cameras when it was just released. The image above is an original photo taken with D90 and the image below is an original photo taken with ZOOM.

D90

I only went out with my friend for a very short time back then; he gave clear instructions on D90 but I didn’t really understand him back then. It took me about 5 minutes to set the M mode for this photo.

ZENFONE ZOOM manual mode, slow shutter, original photo

The ASUS team designed and wrote the manual mode of PixelMaster to be easily understood with intuitive controls, allowing someone like me who has completely no concept of M mode to find the secret to the settings by taking just two photos; it is really easy to learn.
In other words, for those of you who love to take photos, just go ahead and try out manual mode; I guarantee you will love its intuitive design and powerful flexibility.
As for how are the effects, the photos show you everything. You can click on the photo to view the full photo if you like it or want to take a look at the details.

Manual night long-exposure mode

Night shooting was one of the worst and most powerless things for phone photography, but the ZENFONE ZOOM that I have in my hand for review was quite stunning.  undefined

OIS optical image stabilizer

Manual mode with 2-second long-exposure (original photo); the phone was placed on a platform in a driving car and only the hand was used to press the long-exposure, no other aids were used.

The only light source was the buliding me, you can see how dark it was by the photo taken by Laser. I wanted to take photos of stars for a long time already, and ZenFone Zoom just made my dream come true. My next target is to shoot the galaxy.
