How to Enable camera2api After Pie on ASUS Max Pro m1

Prerequisites


1. Minimal Fastboot & ADB ZIP.

    Download from here.
2. Device Drivers.

    Download from here.

Follow the steps given below:


1. Extract the Minimal Fastboot & ADB to a folder,

2. Download & install Device Drivers on your PC,


3. Enter into fastboot mode by pressing Volume Up + Power Button

    (release hardware keys when you CSC FASTBOOT MODE on-screen),

4. Open Command Prompt or Powershell(on Windows) or Terminal Window (on Linux or Mac)in the same directory where Platform tools/Minimal Fastboot & ADB are extracted:


    Press Shift & Right-click > select Open Powershell Window here

5. Enter the following command as per your case:
    Windows Command Prompt: fastboot oem enable_camera_hal3 true
    Windows PowerShell: .\fastboot oem enable_camera_hal3 true
    macOS or Linux Terminal: ./fastboot oem enable_camera_hal3 true

   
6. Press Enter,

7. Reboot devise,


8. Now, download the Google Camera Port for your ASUS Max Pro M1.

    Get Google Camera from here.


9. Install Google Camera,

Note:

1. After updating your device to Android Pie > clear cache partition from recovery, and go through the steps given above.


2. Ensure that device drivers are installed on your system and you've set up Platform tools/Minimal Fastboot & ADB on your system.

3.
Arnova8G2, BSG, and cstark are popular Google Camera developers, you can download their GCam ports. And make sure to check API level as per your system before installing otherwise, GCam won't work.

I'm using probably the best port of pixel camera and the quality is way way better than stock camera

Yeah, in Android Pie camera2api is enabled by default, but those who are facing difficulty in enabling it or those who've updated from Beta Pie firmware can make use of these steps.
Once camera2api is enabled on Stable Pie, further there won't be any need of re-enabling it even if factory reset is performed.
