If you've noticed that your device becomes too slow, use the Auto-start Manager app to check the running programs and their memory use. If you don't need these apps at the moment, you can disable or deny them to release more memory.

There are two scenarios to release the app's memory:

Scenario 1
If the app is currently running and its auto-start setting is set to Allow, move the slider to Deny to release the memory.

Scenario 2
If the app is currently running and its auto-start setting  is set to Deny, move the slider to Allow then move it back to Deny to release the memory. Note that in this scenario, the Auto-start Manager displays the app's memory use even though the app is set to Deny.

You can check the overall memory usage after releasing the memory used by the apps by clicking the Brush icon on the upper-right.

Important
If you deny an application from auto-starting, several side effects can be experienced, such as non-working or delayed notifications, data not syncing unless you open the app, affected background services and widgets. Do not deny any apps that you think should provide critical, up to date information such as company email clients, reminders, alarms, etc.

Do you find Auto-start Manager useful? Does it save you both RAM and battery life, or have you found something more effective? Let us know in the comments.

hi sir nikko, kapag naka deny po ba ang apps, ibig ba sabihin niyan is hindi ka makakatanggap ng notification?

This app has been helpful to me to stop some apps who runs in background. Up for this.

Yes notifications will be delayed, or sometimes you will only be notified if you launch the app.

is it ok to deny all of the apps list in the auto start manager?

Yes, aside from the lack of real-time notifications, denying everything won't break system stability. You can make an exception for alarm and reminder-related apps though, if you're using any.

This is like RAM boosting, but only done for individual apps without stopping them on Apps Settings.

Best not to deny auto-startup for apps that provide real-time updates like the calendar app which notifies us for upcoming reminders/events. Very useful for business folks or even for those who rely heavily on apps to keep them updated.
