Jonney Shih
Jonney Shih has served as the Chairman of ASUS since 1993, and until 2007 he also served as the Chief Executive Officer.
As Chairman, Mr. Shih guides the company’s vision, corporate culture, and innovation strategies. Under his leadership, ASUS has become an internationally recognized technology leader that ranks No. 1 in worldwide sales of motherboards and No.3 in consumer notebooks. For the last several years, Fortune magazine has named ASUS as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies. Since 2013, ASUS has also been recognized as the most valuable international brand from Taiwan for five consecutive years, according to Interbrand.
Mr. Shih is well known for his passion and commitment to innovation, and his relentless pursuit of perfection has helped to commercialize a generation of technology for consumer use. In 2006, he led the development of the revolutionary ASUS Eee PC, a high-quality, compact, cost-effective device that ignited the mobile computing era and marked the beginning of a new category of PCs known today as netbooks.
In 2008, Mr. Shih guided the separation of the ASUS original design manufacturing (ODM) and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) businesses — a strategic decision that proved vital in developing global recognition for the ASUS brand. Within just two years, ASUS became a top global smartphone brand.
More recently, Mr. Shih has led ASUS to become an international sensation with the introduction of ASUS Zenbo, the first home robot. Zenbo is the first step in realizing his vision of enabling robotic computing for every household while transforming ASUS into a technology leader for the next industry paradigm shift.
Mr. Shih believes that people are the most important asset of any company, and he credits the success of ASUS to its dedicated workforce and corporate culture.
