Usando WMI para programar o LED do anel e do botão detalha duas camadas de software:
- Uma camada inferior, que expõe a interface de programação de LED (método) no ACPI.
- Uma camada superior, que expõe a interface WMI para invocar métodos ACPI.
Embora a segunda camada (WMI) seja específica para o Windows*, a primeira camada (ACPI) é independente do sistema operacional. Existem implementações que suportam a invocação de métodos ACPI no Linux. Aqui está um lugar para começar: um módulo do kernel Linux que permite chamadas a métodos ACPI por meio de /proc/acpi/call.
