In fact we would suggest this is probably one of the best motherboards that ASUS builds considering the bang for the buck factor. If you are looking for great quality and features at a low cost that just happens to be a great overclocker as well, it is hard to look past the ASUS Z97-A. At the conclusion of the testing, I found that all the associated technologies from ASUS just worked as intended. It's hard to go wrong with either the Z97-A or Z97-Deluxe NFC & WLC. However, if the NFC & WLC feature set is not on your go-to list, then the Z97-A is right up your alley.

It is really hard to believe that this is ASUS’s entry-level Z97 motherboard. Even looking back at the Z87-A, this board offers much more and you can see where ASUS made the improvements. If you are looking to get into the Z97 platform at an affordable price the Z97-A is the perfect choice. Right now you can pick up the Z97-A at my favorite online retailer for $149.99, which makes it such a great value. My time with the Z97-A has been extremely interesting. As always I was extremely impressed with Asus’s attention to detail when packing the Z97-A full of features. Typically with a low to mid ranged motherboard like this manufactures seem to try their best to put only the bear minimum in effort into everything. Asus did a great job of giving the Z97-A the best software available as well as the best UEFI BIOS. I was also really impressed with the USB 3.0 performance when using Asus’s USB 3.0 Boost.

In conclusion, the ASUS Z97-A is the ideal choice for the price conscious buyer who is not willing to give up any of the features or capabilities that you would want from a next generation motherboard.

While a motherboard targeted for the value segment is rarely (if ever) described as overwhelming, the Z97-A is the exception to the rule. It is feature rich in ways that are not often thought of when it comes to motherboard since most of its unique capabilities are software based. I can hear the collective groan already from readers (“bundled software! bah”) but lumping in ASUS software with other motherboard software is unfair for AI Suite is in a league all its own.

We're still in the early days of the 9-series generation, and I haven't spent enough time with the alternatives to have a definitive sense of how they stack up overall. But I have spent enough time with the Z97-A to know that it's a fantastic motherboard worthy of TR Recommended designation

The test result were consistently good and it does, unlike AsRock, an adequate solution for CrossfireX and SLI.

I really liked the ASUS Z87-A, which although being a very stripped down model that still delivers a lot of good function as EPU, TPU and an XMP contact. With Z97-A ASUS has done it again; we see what looks like a very stripped down motherboards, but it still delivers the goods.

Apart from the flimsy boards have this Z97-A almost everything we care about, and deficiencies are very few

ASUS has really outdone themselves with the Z97-A. As an entry-level option for Intel's Z97, the Z97-A is packed full of features that might make many other boards blush. It's hard to quantify everything that's here; the sheer number of goodies I personally appreciate is simply too long. If you want a good Z97 board, you don't need to look anywhere else.

The best thing about this model is that you get a lot of motherboard for your money. It is neither the cheapest or the most expensive option for LGA1150 socket, but with a price tag of just over 1100 NOK the Asus Z97-A is undoubtedly an exceptionally good motherboard that we strongly recommend.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with the Z97-A, and ASUS' reputation makes it a safe choice.

At the start of the review I had a concept that it was a Z97 motherboard with features limited given its low price, but after having examined the evidence and detail the concept has almost completely disappeared since the Z97-A is equipped with all features needed in a motehrboard, currently one of the best options for all those users who plan to build a computer on a tight budget but lose none of the novelties offered this series intel.

Since this motherboard comes from Asus we were sure that it has plenty equipment but we need to emphasize that price is really affordable, which is rare combination.
