[NUC] Error: "S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD : Backup and Replace" on an ️ NUC

Resolution

The S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD : Backup and Replace, is a warning that the system's hard drive or SSD has failed, or is likely to fail in the near future.

If you can boot into the operating system (OS):

Backup the data from the failing drive to another location
Replace the failing drive as soon as possible

Continuing to use the drive may result in data loss.
