[Phone] App Unexpectedly Closes, Stops Responding, or Fails to Open
If an app unexpectedly closes, becomes unresponsive, or cannot be opened, please try the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Check Your Network Connection
If your phone is in an area with a weak or unstable network signal, apps that require internet access may not work properly.
2. Restart the App
Close all running apps and reopen the affected app.
To force stop an app: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Select the app > Force stop.
3. Restart Your Phone
A simple restart can often fix temporary software issues.
4. Clean up background apps
Go to Settings > Advanced > Mobile Manager > Memory Cleaner.
5. Clear App Cache
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Select the app > Storage & cache > Clear cache.
⚠️ Clearing the cache will delete temporary files. It is recommended to back up important data before doing so.
6. Clear App Storage
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Select the app > Storage & cache > Clear storage.
⚠️ Clearing storage will reset the app to its default state. All login information, settings, and records will be deleted. Please back up your data before proceeding.
7. Update the App to the Latest Version
Open Play Store > Tap your profile icon (top right) > Manage apps and device > Update all.
8. Update the Firmware
Go to Settings > System > System updates > Check for updates to ensure your phone is running the latest firmware version.
9. Enter Safe Mode
Safe mode disables all third-party apps. If built-in apps work properly in safe mode, a third-party app may be causing the issue.
To enter safe mode: Press and hold the Power button, then press and hold the Power off option, and tap OK to restart in safe mode.
10. Uninstall and Reinstall the App
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Select the app > Uninstall, then reinstall it from the Play Store.
11. Back Up Your Data and Perform a Factory Reset
If the issue persists, back up all important data and reset your phone to factory settings.
To perform a factory reset: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).
⚠️ Performing a factory reset will erase all data stored on your phone, including Google and other accounts, system and app settings, installed apps, and all music, photos, videos, and other files.
12. Contact the App Developer
If a third-party app still malfunctions after trying all the above steps, the issue may be related to the app itself. Please contact the app developer for further assistance.
