[Phone] Headset Issues and Solutions

Wired Headset Issues

⦁ Basic Checks
First, ensure the headset jack is fully inserted into the device’s audio port. If your phone is using a protective case, the design may obstruct a full connection, resulting in sound being played from only one side or from the phone’s speaker instead.

Check that the volume level is above 15%. Each headset varies in impedance and sensitivity, requiring different power levels. If the volume is set too low, it may result in barely audible sound.

⦁ Audio Playback Test
Connect the headset to your phone and play some music to confirm if sound is playing correctly. While music is playing, press the volume buttons to check if the volume adjustment is functioning properly.

⦁ Microphone Function Test
Record a short voice clip and play it back to verify if the headset microphone is working properly. This helps determine whether the microphone is picking up sound correctly.

⦁ Cross-Testing
Try connecting a different headset to the same phone, or use the original headset with another phone, tablet, or computer. If the issue persists across multiple devices, the problem likely lies with the headset. If only your phone exhibits the issue, then the phone may be at fault.

⦁ Physical Inspection
Visually check the headset cable for damage. A bent or broken plug, frayed cable, or exposed wiring can cause audio instability or complete audio failure. Also inspect the plug for dirt or debris, as a dirty plug may interfere with audio transmission, resulting in intermittent sound or audio only on one side.

⦁ Adapter Check
If you're using an adapter, make sure it is functioning correctly. Incompatible or faulty adapters may lead to complete audio loss. If the issue persists after performing the checks above, we recommend bringing the headset to an ASUS service center for further inspection.

Bluetooth Headset Issues

⦁  Basic Functionality Check
Ensure the headset has sufficient power. Place it in the charging case and charge for about 30 minutes. Check if the indicator light turns on. Also confirm the charging case has enough battery and inspect the charging contacts on both the headset and the case for any dirt or defects.

Sudden Bluetooth disconnections may be due to low battery levels. We recommend regularly checking the battery status.

⦁  Sound Troubleshooting

Volume and Settings: Ensure the device volume is set appropriately. Check if the mesh on the headset’s speaker is clean.

Cross-Device Testing: Connect the headset to another device to determine whether the issue lies with the headset or the original device.

⦁  Bluetooth Pairing Troubleshooting

Bluetooth Connection Check: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the device is within range. Nearby Bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices may cause interference.

Re-pairing the Headset: Remove the headset from your phone’s paired device list, then pair it again. If the headset is not detected, ensure it is in pairing mode.

⦁  Reset the Headset
If the issue remains unresolved, try resetting the headset according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

⦁  Physical Inspection
Clean the charging contacts on both the headset and the charging case to ensure proper connectivity. Also check if the ear tips fit properly. If needed, try different sizes of ear tips for better comfort and performance.
