[Range Extender] How to Reset Your RP-AX50 Repeater?
Introduction
This FAQ outlines two methods for resetting your RP-AX50 repeater to its factory default settings. Resetting your device can be a useful troubleshooting step for resolving various issues, restoring default configurations, or preparing the device for a new setup. Please be aware that performing a factory reset will erase all custom settings, including your WiFi name (SSID), password, and any other personalized configurations. You will need to reconfigure your RP-AX50 after a reset.
Method 1: Hardware Button Reset
This method uses the physical WPS/RESET button on your RP-AX50.
Step 1: Locate the WPS/RESET Button
Ensure your RP-AX50 is powered on. Locate the WPS/RESET button on the device.
Step 2: Press and Hold the Button
Press and hold the WPS/RESET button for approximately 10 seconds.
Step 3: Observe LED Indicators
All LED indicators on the device will flash once and then turn off, signifying that the reset process has begun.
Step 4: Wait for Restart
Release the button and wait for the device to restart automatically. Once the RP-AX50 has fully restarted (typically indicated by the Power LED turning solid green and other LEDs returning to their normal operating state), the hardware reset process will be complete.
Method 2: UI-Based Factory Reset (Via Web Interface)
This method allows you to reset the RP-AX50 through its web management interface.
Step 1: Log in to the Web Interface
Open a web browser on a device connected to your RP-AX50 (either wired or wirelessly). Enter the RP-AX50's IP address (e.g., http://192.168.72.1 by default or http://repeater.asus.com) into the address bar and press Enter. Log in using your administrator password.

Step 2: Navigate to System Admin
From the main dashboard, navigate to Management and then select System Admin from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Click the [System] Tab
On the Admin page, click the System tab to access system-related settings.

Step 4: Click [Restore Factory]
Locate the [Restore To Factory Default Settings] section and click the Restore Factory button.

Step 5: Confirm Reset
A confirmation dialog will appear, warning you that all settings will be erased. Click OK to confirm and proceed with the factory reset.

Step 6: Wait for Reboot
The device will display a countdown and then begin the reboot process. Wait for the countdown to finish and allow approximately two minutes for the RP-AX50 to fully restart. The UI-based factory reset process is then complete.
