What is FreeSync™ Technology?

•AMD FreeSync™ technology is a dynamic refresh rate feature that is implemented through embedded and external DisplayPort panels

•The FreeSync™ technology in select AMD GPUs resolves the communication issues between processor and monitor, eliminating image tears and choppiness for effortlessly smooth game play.

Without FreeSync™ technology

 V-SYNC was created to eliminate tearing, but as a result frame rate are reduced, the mouse is laggy & stuttering ruins game play

 

With FreeSync™ technology

 AMD FreeSync™ technology synchronizes the GPU and the monitor so frames are displayed when ready – no tearing or stuttering is present

 

System Requirements for FreeSync™ Monitor (For example: MG279Q)

• Enable FreeSync™ in the MG279's OSD setting, choose PC’s refresh rate timing between 35-90Hz (DP/miniDP only)

• Software: AMD Catalyst™ version 15.3 Beta or later, Windows® 7/8/8.1 32 or 64bit

(Note: AMD FreeSync™ "Windmill" demo application is required to run in 64bit OS)

 • AMD GPU: AMD Radeon™ R9 295X2, 290X, R9 290, R9 285, R7 260X, and R7 260 ...etc
