[Notebook] How to determine the function of USB Type-C ?

USB Type-C has multiple functions. We can confirm the function that USB Type-C can undertake through the mark next to the USB Type-C interface.

This article shows three ways to obtain the technical specifications of the USB Type-C interface:

Verify to the type of logo printed beside the interface
Refer to the technical specification information on the ASUS Official Website
Refer to the ASUS e-manual available from the ASUS Official Website

Take the actual interface mark that exists on ASUS laptops as an example to explain the functions undertaken by the USB Type-C interface：

1. USB Type-C with video output function.

（1） USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C + Display, with video display function, and theoretical bandwidth with a maximum transfer rate of up to 5Gb/s.

（2） USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C + Display, with video display function, and theoretical bandwidth with a maximum transfer rate of up to 10Gb/s.

（3 ） Thunderbolt connection technology combines PCIExpress data transmission technology and DisplayPort display technology, which can simultaneously transmit data and video signals, providing up to 40Gbp / s bandwidth. (Normally, the icon next to the Thunderbolt 3 interface is only marked with a lightning symbol)

2. USB Type-C without video output

（1） USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C theoretical bandwidth with a maximum transfer rate of up to 5Gb/s.

（2） USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C theoretical bandwidth with a maximum transfer rate of up to 10Gb/s.

（3） USB3.2 Gen2*2 Type-C theoretical bandwidth with a maximum transfer rate of up to 20Gb/s.

（4） USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C + PD. with charging function, and supports shutdown charging. The maximum transmission rate can reach the theoretical bandwidth of 5Gb/s.

3. USB Type-C interface without any logo

This interface is common in ASUS Chromebooks, generally USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C, which is a full-featured interface. It supports charging function for Chromebooks, supplies power to external devices, and provides video signal output.

The product specifications of the computer are provided on the ASUS Official Website. You can see the specifications of the interface in the interface area under the product specifications.

①[Search] your computer name, click ②[Tech specs] , you can see the USB Type-C in the range of ③[Interfaces] Technical specifications of the interface.

The electronic version of the user manual is available on the ASUS official website where you can obtain detailed information about the computer interface.

(1) Go to the ASUS official website, ①[Search] your computer model, click ②[Support], click ③[Manuals & Documents], find your language, and click ④[Download].

(2) Open the downloaded file and find the relevant technical specifications of the USB Type-C interface in [Getting to know your Notebook PC].
