[NUC] My NUC Kit NUC8i7HVK cannot detect a third party external hard drive

Resolution

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps.
1. Try other USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports. 
2. Reset the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). Please go to this page for the detailed instructions on how to reset the BIOS. 
3. Update the system BIOS (0049). Detailed steps to update the system BIOS is available here .
4. Change the disk cable. 

Incompatibility issues may arise when a third party hard drive is installed on certain Windows-based systems. If above steps does not resolve the issue, please contact the third party hard drive manufacturer to check the system requirements.
