Technical Advisory: LPDDR4X / LPDDR5X Memory Display in System BIOS

Because the memory information shown in the system BIOS is reported according to the industry-standard SMBIOS (System Management BIOS) specification, and the current SMBIOS standard does not provide separate display entries for memory types with the “X” suffix (such as LPDDR4X and LPDDR5X), the BIOS will display the closest available memory type instead:

  • LPDDR4X will be shown as LPDDR4
  • LPDDR5X will be shown as LPDDR5

Explanation: This behavior is a limitation of the SMBIOS/BIOS display definition. It does not affect the actual hardware specifications or performance, and it does not indicate a hardware fault or incorrect specification interpretation. To confirm the exact memory specification installed in your device, please refer to the product specification sheet or the label on the device.

Note: SMBIOS “Memory Device Type” currently does not include dedicated type codes for LPDDR4X/LPDDR5X, so the system can only report LPDDR4 (1Eh) and LPDDR5 (23h).
