1. Glasses & Dock Usage Questions (Glasses & Dock Usage)

Q1: Is the 240Hz refresh rate of the ROG XREAL R1 the native panel refresh rate or achieved through frame rate boosting?

A: ROG XREAL R1 supports up to a 240Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate is achieved through image processing technology, which first downscales the image and then upscales it back to 1920x1080 to achieve a 240Hz display effect (see Q2 for more details).

Q2: Why might the image appear somewhat blurry or have more noticeable pixelation in 240Hz mode?

A: ROG XREAL R1 adopts Sony's advanced image technology. To achieve the 240Hz refresh rate on the micro-OLED panel, the image is first downscaled from the original resolution to 1920x540, then upscaled back to 1920x1080. Due to this scaling process, compared to the native resolution, some image details and sharpness may be sacrificed.

Q3: What interpupillary distance ranges do the R1-N and R1-B models of the ROG XREAL R1 correspond to? How should I choose?

A: We offer two interpupillary distance versions to ensure you choose the model that best fits you. Please note that selecting the incorrect interpupillary distance may result in unclear or incomplete images.

R1-N model: suitable for interpupillary distance range 57mm - 66mm
R1-B Model: Suitable for Interpupillary Distance Range 66mm - 75mm. If your interpupillary distance is exactly 66mm, we recommend you choose the R1-B model.
💡 Purchase Advice: We strongly recommend you measure your interpupillary distance before purchasing, and select the appropriate model based on your measurement results. Below are two measurement methods:

Method 1 (Precise Measurement): Visit an ophthalmology hospital or a professional optical shop to obtain accurate interpupillary distance data, so you can choose the most suitable model.
Method 2 (Quick Measurement): ROG XREAL R1 provides an online browser-based quick interpupillary distance measurement tool. Please click the link to proceed:
ROG XREAL R1 Gaming AR Glasses - Exclusive IPD Interpupillary Distance Camera Measurement, after measuring, select the appropriate model based on your interpupillary distance information.
🌟 Friendly Reminder: If your interpupillary distance (IPD) happens to be right at the threshold or slightly exceeds the recommended range, you can still optimize your wearing experience by changing the nose pad or adjusting the angle of the temple arms. Additionally, you can double tap the menu key to access the OSD menu and manually fine-tune the IPD for an even better screen fit.

Q4: The IPD matching on ROG XREAL R1 offers two sizes. Is this only changing the frame width or does it involve physical displacement of the Optical Center?

A: We offer two different sizes of glasses specifically designed to accurately match different interpupillary distances (IPD). This is a physical hardware alignment in optical design rather than simply adjusting the frame. By ensuring your line of sight is perfectly aligned with the optical center of the lenses, we can effectively eliminate parallax errors and significantly reduce eye fatigue during extended use. The two sizes are suitable for users with IPDs of 57~66mm and 66~75mm, respectively (see Q3 for details). You may refer to the ROG XREAL R1 Gaming AR Glasses - Dedicated IPD Camera Measurement for your IPD measurement.

Q5: For the adjustable arm design, what considerations are there regarding compatibility with over-ear headphones and distribution of pressure points?

A: ROG XREAL R1 uses multi-axis adjustable temple arms and a high-flexibility, resilient material design, allowing it to adapt to various head shapes. This flexible structure specifically takes into account the physical space required for professional gaming headphones, increasing wearing flexibility and ensuring users maintain long-term comfort while wearing over-ear headphones.

Q6: Does GamePlus's FPS counter detect the input signal frequency, or does it feature hardware-level frame analysis?

A: GamePlus's FPS counter detects the input signal frequency.

Q7: As a "Strategic Command Center," can the hardware toggle on the Dock directly adjust the internal brightness and electrochromic levels of the glasses without software?

A: The Dock is designed as the central hub for all settings, allowing users to directly fine-tune all detailed settings through hardware controls, including brightness and electrochromic levels, without the need for additional software operations.

Q8: Did the Dock's "asymmetric geometric shield" design take into account passive cooling for the airflow?

A: Yes. The Dock's ID design elements are inspired by ROG design language, emphasizing sleekness and a sense of speed. We conducted rigorous thermal testing, evaluated cooling patterns, and ensured effective cooling design is implemented when necessary.

Q9: When connected to ROG Ally, can the Dock provide more than 65W PD fast charging to the main device at the same time?

A: Not supported.

Q10: Why doesn't the Dock have a built-in battery and instead uses DC-IN for power? Does this limit the Dock's mobile usage scenarios?

A: The Dock is designed to serve as a central hub for multiple desktop devices (such as game consoles, PCs, or desktop computers), so signal switching function is the top priority. We mainly focus on fixed usage scenarios. The Dock uses DC-IN for power and can provide 5V/1.5A of power via a USB power interface (such as a USB charger), which is fully sufficient to support the simultaneous operation of the Dock and R1 glasses.

Q11: Does the Dock's built-in Sniper Mode perform hardware-level pixel magnification in the center area of the glasses?

A: Yes, the Dock's Sniper Mode is one of our exclusive GamePlus enhancement features developed specifically for competitive gaming. It performs hardware-level pixel magnification in the center area of the glasses, helping players practice their skills in games. It is a hardware-assisted tool designed for core eSports players.

Q12: Does the Dock support custom profile storage (On-board Memory)? Will settings remain when switching between different glasses or devices?

A: The Dock will read the settings of the connected glasses. Therefore, when you switch to different ROG XREAL R1 glasses, the Dock will implement their respective settings according to the configuration of that pair of glasses.

Q13: What is the Dock's signal compression algorithm for high bandwidth demand (such as converting 1080P/120Hz to 240Hz frame rate boost for glasses)?

A: The Dock's maximum video signal compatibility is 4K 60Hz. The Dock mainly handles signal transmission and switching and does not perform signal compression or frame rate boost. The 240Hz frame rate boost for glasses is handled by the processor inside the glasses.

Q14: Why can't the buttons on the glasses operate the OSD after connecting to the Dock?

A: When the glasses are connected to the Dock, the buttons on the glasses cannot control the OSD (On-Screen Display).

At this time, operation is taken over by the five-way key on the ROG Control Dock, providing complete control functionality. This is the current product design for Dock mode, centralizing operations on the Dock to ensure a stable and consistent user experience.

Q5: In hover mode, what adjustment and setting methods can help achieve a more stable image with ROG XREAL R1?

A: In hover mode, image stability is the key to a good experience. We provide adjustment and setting methods for two scenarios to help you get a more stable image:

Scenario 1: On a moving vehicle
The hovering and anti-shake features of the glasses display are achieved by recalculating the screen position using the accelerometer. On transportation such as the subway, airplane, high-speed rail, or highway, acceleration, deceleration, and turning of the vehicle will affect the accelerometer, which may cause the hovering screen to “drift”.
Our suggestion: To keep the screen stable, it is recommended to use “Follow Mode” first when you are on moving transportation.
Situation 2: Using in a stationary environment
If you encounter screen drift or instability in a stationary environment, we recommend checking and adjusting as follows:
Check for magnetic objects: Magnetic objects or items that produce a magnetic field may affect the stability of the screen’s hovering. Please check if there are such items in your environment.
Reconnect the glasses: Reconnecting the glasses can recalibrate the on-screen hovering, which helps improve instability issues.
Calibrate the sensor: Recalibration allows the sensor to return to optimal condition. Calibration method: Double-tap the menu button → Select "Display Information" → Select "Sensor Calibration".

Q6: How do I adjust the display of ROG XREAL R1 in 3DoF (hover mode) to ensure it is level and avoid a tilted screen?

A: When the screen appears tilted, you can first try to recenter the screen and adjust the angle of the temple arms and nose pads to see if the display returns to normal. At the same time, ROG XREAL R1 provides the "Screen Adjustment" function, which supports fine-tuning the screen at three angles to help solve issues like a tilted display. Adjustment steps: Double-tap the menu button → Select "Spatial Screen" → Select "Screen Adjustment" → Adjust the screen angle as needed.

Q7: What is the optimal screen distance and size for the best experience when using ROG XREAL R1 daily?

A: The distance and size of the screen are key to user experience, and every user will have different requirements for screen distance and size depending on the scenario. The ROG XREAL R1 glasses support screen distance adjustment from 1-10 meters, and screen size (FOV=57) from 34-556 inches. Since "best experience" is subjective, it is difficult to give a fixed value. However, based on daily usage habits, here are some adjustment data for different scenarios for your reference:

-Movies & Games: For a more immersive theater-level experience, I usually set the screen distance to 10 meters and adjust the screen size to almost fill my field of view, then make fine adjustments as needed.- Daily office work: To simulate an efficient "extended display," the distance is generally set to 1 meter and the size to 32 inches. If you need to handle multiple pages at once, turn on the 32:9 ultra-wide mode to arrange several pages on the screen, improving operational convenience.
