[ASUS Router] DDNS Service Security Upgrade Notification
Dear User,
To continuously enhance the security and stability of the DDNS service, we will gradually discontinue the legacy DDNS connection method starting today and fully migrate all users to the new DDNS service architecture. Over the past several years, we have strengthened server-side protections and released new firmware updates to deliver more robust safeguards and more reliable connection quality. Only a small number of devices remain on earlier firmware versions or the legacy DDNS service process.
If you use the DDNS service, please complete the DDNS service version migration by September 30, 2026 by following the steps below to ensure uninterrupted service:
1. Check Your Device Support Status (EOL)
Please visit the ASUS EOL Product page first to confirm whether your router model has reached End-of-Life (EOL) status.
- If the model has reached EOL: We recommend replacing it with a newer model to receive the latest security updates and service mechanisms, along with optimal connection quality and long-term support.
- If the model has not reached EOL: Please follow the steps below to update the firmware and re-register DDNS. This will switch you to the new DDNS service architecture.
2. Update Router Firmware to the Latest Version
Please download and install the latest firmware version from the ASUS Support website (or perform the update directly through the router’s management interface).
After the update completes, we recommend restarting the router to ensure all settings and services are applied correctly.

3. Re-register DDNS (Recommended)
After updating to the latest firmware, go to the router’s DDNS settings page and re-register or re-apply the DDNS service once (depending on the model, the button may be labeled [Register], [Apply], [Update], or [Re-enable]). Once completed, you will be using the new DDNS service and can avoid future connection issues.

FAQ
1. My DDNS is not working now. What should I do?
Please update the firmware to the latest version first, then go to the router’s DDNS settings page and re-register/re-apply once. In most cases, this will restore normal operation.
2. Why is this change necessary?
Based on our overall upgrade plan for cybersecurity and service reliability, we need to phase out the legacy connection method and standardize on the new architecture. This gives the DDNS service stronger protection while ensuring long-term maintainability.
3. If my model has reached EOL, can I still continue using it?
EOL models cannot receive new firmware versions or complete security updates, which may limit service compatibility. To ensure availability and security, we recommend replacing the device with a currently supported model.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We value every user’s connection security. This adjustment allows the DDNS service to continue providing a stable experience under a more secure and long-term maintainable architecture. If you need assistance while updating firmware or re-registering DDNS, please contact ASUS Customer Service or visit the support website for model-specific instructions.
